I am sure any situation around Ward includes giving him time to figure out if he wants to stay, moving back to his previous role.

My guess is he's already been given that option and time to think about it (assuming the Flames aren't keeping him as head coach, which seems less likely given Friedman's inferences).

Man I hope they are able/want to hire a coach that's a proven winner.

I don’t think it’s fair to judge someone’s leadership ability by watching him stand on the bench on TV

True. I should have mentioned that myself. (from what little I've seen as viewer) I definitely agree.

Would you come back if they were good with him as coach?

Just asking.

Define “good”. Are we on the Calgary Flames grading curve, or the NHL curve?

No, I mean actually good like Vegas or Tampa. Legit.

It makes me wonder if he thinks there are any coaches still on thin ice for teams that are still playing.

Nope. I'm a man of my word.

Instead I would wallow in my own depression, knowing that it was my being a fan that held them back.

If I had to guess Tre is probably feeling out if one of the big 3 coaches would be interested in coming to Calgary. For me if you are not getting one of the “big 3” then there is no point on changing coach.

The timing makes me think we’re gonna get another Peters situation where Treliving likes a guy who’s available and doesn’t do a lot of interviewing.

Reirden was on the short list when Gulutzan was hired, so I’m fearing the worst here.

Hopefully this means that he wants whoever he hires to be a reputable coach that will be able to sell Taylor Hall that Calgary is stable winning organization.

This can't be that hard. You have one of the best coaches available saying that he would coach anywhere in Bruce Boudreau. Just get him.

He would be my choice as well. He is a hard ass, but also a stand-up guy that players seem to respect. It's difficult to find that line. I don't see it happening though.
Darryl as coach, Ward as Associate. Ward does most of the everyday coach duties. Have Darryl there on game days preparing the team and managing the bench, that’s the key.

I’m sure his kids and grandkids are all in Alberta. Brett is with the Hurricanes organization in Charlotte but doubt he lives there.

Calgary is the perfect place for him to coach. Plus tell him he has unfinished business, that should get to him.

Absolutely. There's some very very good coaches available, I refuse to believe all will turn down a job offer.

If the offer is from Calgary you definitely think twice before jumping. The place has been a disaster for coaches not named Darryl for almost 2 decades

And Darryl happened to be the only coach who got to head coach again after Calgary.
Maybe it's not the place, it's the quality of the coaches.

I doubt coaches would care about past coaches. They would believe in themselves.

IMO if they are hesitant to come to Calgary, it would be wondering what the make up for the team is and realistic goals for the team. Is Johnny getting traded for futures and no replacement? Do they think this core intact can take next step to obtain management goals?

Except for when it came to Peters.
