What kind of contract would DeMelo be looking for? Would he be a good fit here?

Zacha isn't the player he was advertised to be when he was drafted-in junior he was downright mean, but he's fairly passive in the pros. He can still hit and he forechecks, and he skates well, and he's big. The thing is-he's just getting his offensive game in order, and he's only 22. I think he's on the cusp of being a productive C.
McCleod won't ever be a high scoring guy, but he has a tantalizing combo of size and speed. He's also demonstrated a mean streak, and a physical game.

I think the Flames blow it if they trade Gaudreau to NJ and the 7th overall picks is not part of the return
Rather have 7 than Bratt (expansion), the 20th pick and a 2nd next year.

Pens website analyzes what the pens could target from the Flames in a Murray trade:
https://pittsburghhockeynow.com/matt...sible-targets/
Emillio Pettersen + pick (of course depends on the pick) intrigues me as well as a package around Kylington.

He's a huge question mark for sure. And he'll be an expensive question mark that will require a long term commitment. If he regained his form though, he'd be a prime aged starter that the Flames would have locked in for the next 5-6 years, and he comes with playoff experience and success too.

He would be if he can get back his form, which is the big question.
We do know that Treliving does like Murray because he tried acquiring him in 2015 before Murray established himself in the NHL.

I don't think I want the Flames to move Pettersen until they can see what he can do in the AHL.
Moving Kylington would be far more agreeable.

We also know Treliving really likes Talbot too because he tried to get him from the Rangers but lost out to Edmonton's bid, then signed him as a UFA as soon as he could. With Talbot's performance from December onwards and through the playoffs, he's done nothing but prove to Treliving he was right about him.
I feel like if we can sign Talbot for 3m, it makes way more sense than adding a goalie who is probably going to want 5m+
Also, the rumors of us trying to acquire Murray were after his sophomore season where he'd just played 49 games and helped the Pens to a 2nd Cup.

I don't like that acquisition cost of Murray. It seems there's a 50-50 chance that he could go either way. Drift away into irrelevance or regain his form. Add in his difficulty staying healthy, im not sure many teams will want to pay more than a mid round draft pick. High risk, high reward.

Kylington is being thrown around an awful lot as trade bait. I can understand why other teams would want him, as he is just rife with all of the tools that make a good long-term defender in this league. And he can be signed to a cheap contract.
I think that he could be the next Brodie starting as soon as next year. That's how much talent he has, and I'm not sure why Calgary would write him off so soon.
I wouldn't trade any defensemen in the Flames system. Maybe next year, or during the season if Mackie turns out to be a monster or something.

Goaltending hasn’t really let us down in either of the last two real playoff series. You can count on a bad game in a series...that’s all we’ve had. Don’t waste assets until we are actually “a goalie away” from contention.
Disappointing as they ultimately may have been, Hiller, Elliott, and Smith probably made this team look better than they really were and lead Brad into the temptation of continuing the accelerated rebuild (of course his own fault to begin with).

Kylington is at risk to be lost in the expansion draft. If you can move him and upgrade in a position of need then do it.

The first rumors of the Flames trying to acquire Murray was in Feburary 2016, which was his 2nd pro season where he spent the majority of time in the AHL.

This thread is weird. Most teams trade proposal threads are "our garbage for your gold"
This one is all "gimme all your bags of pucks and magic beans for our best players!"

Unless, of course, you are willing to expose Giordano to the expansion draft.

I’m pretty sure Gio will be exposed. I have my doubts whether he would be taken, though I would if I was Seattle.

If we were to acquire Murray, my opinion would be to trade Rittich and see if Talbot would come back.
