Just watched a couple of the Rittenhouse videos.

My first thought is that we're going to see a lot more scenes like that in the US before the year is out.

The second is that it's stunning that he wasn't immediately taken to the ground by police when he approached them with his hands up.

The third is that it's really hard to find a good video narrative that shows the chronology of events. Lots of videos have been taken down for content reasons, others are just poorly spliced or editorialized.

Can anyone point me to a good breakdown of the footage by an even half reputable source?

Edit: I think I've managed to piece the events together now from multiple sources, but it's clear there remains a ton of confusion and unknowns, as might be expected from this scene.

To add a 4th thought, this kid was raised by a single mom, and spent age 13 to 17 idolizing Trump and guns. I wonder how many other young kids there are out there like him, and how many more there will be if Trump wins again on November.

I've tried to make sense of the videos I've seen of the Rittenhouse shootings. And from what I gather it's this:

Some teenager Trump supporter wants to "protect Americans" so grabs his bigass gun. Basically to play soldier.

Some idiot (from the videos I've seen..If true...The first guy shot and killed seems a little unhinged and from the clip I don't even know whose side he is on) is seen chasing Rittenhouse.Rittsnhouse shoots him.

Then there is footage of Rittenhouse calling someone on his phone but he runs off and a gang chases him down where he shoots two more people.

The cops then finally come and he gives him self up and is arrested...Eventually. (Great police work there)

In the end it is just a perfect picture of how messed up America is.

Rittenhouse is a product of his environment. He is the American poster boy of the modern USA.

Just like you don't blame the child raised in a violent home who eventually acts out violently. How can you blame the youths of America when this is what they have been raised on?

does this illustrate the bias to magnumpei? it's plain as can be to the rest of us, but do you get it now magnumpei? if rittenhouse was black (aside from his murder by cop that evening) we'd be treated to a smear narrative from the right. probably something about how rittenhouse is a disturbed kid, video game violence is to blame, broken home and violent rap music etc etc.

seems like you think jacob blake got what was coming to him and by that logic rittenhouse should have been shot a thousand times in the back by police. but instead he's a 'good kid'

I think this Rittenhouse thing is maybe the most ominous news story of the year. The split between the groups defending him as the "good guy with a gun" vs the group seeing him as the terrorist and the bicep guy as "good guy with gun" is pretty ridiculous.

I would not be surprised to see a pretty extreme reaction no matter what the courts end up sentencing this guy to.

I just can’t believe there are this many sports fans who care that they can’t watch their sport for two nights. Especially when this is all bonus after all pro sports were halted for a separate reason.
