Even when violent and property crimes are reported to police, they’re often not solved – at least based on a measure known as the clearance rate. That’s the share of cases each year that are closed, or “cleared,” through the arrest, charging and referral of a suspect for prosecution. In 2015, 46% of the violent crimes and 19% of the property crimes reported to police in the U.S. were cleared, according to FBI data.

NSFL compilation of what happened.

I would say the first shooting is questionable.
Buddy who got his biceps blown off had a pistol in his hand.

Wisconsin isn't a Stand Your Ground state, he has a duty to retreat if he felt threatened. Also a public street with many police nearby.

Kid also traveled there and is too young to even legally own the weapon

What is gonna blow up here though is the fact a white kid shot multiple people and walked down the street with an assault rifle and the cops drove on by

Yeah he's on the lam now and one has to to assume the FBI is involved since he hurried his ass out of Wisconsin immediately.

On the plus(???) side, he's an underage civilian cop-wannabe and not a cop, so he is actually being charged.

Opinion, or do you have data?

I suppose internet/mob justice is the solution to whatever problems we might uncover.

I'm sure when someone goes through the effort to show you the data, this will definitely be the time you cede your position and not move the goalposts for a 3 page derail while sealioning the entire time!

I can feel it!

You still have a right to self defence if you are in imminent danger of death. Which I think being attacked with a skateboard and a pistol justifies.

The first shooting though, I can't really tell what happened. It looks like something is thrown at him, but likely not enough of a threat to justify a headshot.

I don't understand how in that environment a guy with a weapon like that can just walk down the street, past several cop cars, and not even get stopped. Surely had he not been a white kid he would have, at minimum, been arrested? Probably shot.

They should have done it the Republican way and pried it from his cold, dead hands.

The data is building up right in front of your eyes. Like literally yesterday with the guy that was shot in the back multiple times...

A 17-Year-Old Aspiring Cop Has Been Charged With Murder In Kenosha

Police arrested Kyle Rittenhouse, a onetime police cadet, whose social media accounts indicated an affinity for the "Back the Blue" movement.

Rittenhouse, clad in a green t-shirt, a cap emblazoned with an American flag, and carrying an assault rifle, was seen on video at various points of the night. In several graphic videos, he’s seen opening fire on protesters; one was shot in the head, another in the chest. The victim who survived was shot in the arm.

While it’s not immediately clear why Rittenhouse, a former police cadet, was at the protest, his social media indicates an affiliation with “Back the Blue,” a pro-police movement. In recent months, pro-cop vigilantes have been showing up heavily armed at protests across the country to defend public property, often warmly received by local law enforcement.

Police interacted with the alleged gunman at various locations in Kenosha throughout the night. In one video, Rittenhouse is seen chatting with police who gave him a bottle of water and thanked him for being there.

He was also seen in the vicinity of a group of armed militiamen, who had tasked themselves with protecting a gas station from damage. Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth acknowledged their presence in an interview with Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, but said he wasn’t sure if the suspected shooter was affiliated with them.

Aside from the absolutely horrific graphic content in the videos, this struck me as the most disturbing thing.

A Black man can "reportedly" reach into his van for a weapon and catch seven bullets in the back. A Black man can lightly resist arrest and be choked until he dies. A Black man can drive drunk and run away from the cops and be shot in the back.

A White man can kill two people and send one to the hospital, and walk by the police carrying the murder weapon in clear sight, completely untouched and free to go.

And what happens? A few White men come into the thread and talk about the criminal records of the Black men, about how they had it coming, about what they did wrong and twist and turn absolving the police officers, calling it an accident, or inevitable, or simply unfortunate. But a White killer? Silence, with a little touch of complaining about "the internet mob" or making sure we know he was allowed to carry that gun.

I know what I'd call that. But I wouldn't want to offend.

Self-defense might play if he didn't travel across state lines with a weapon in tow, but I think we all know why this guy was over there. Doesn't mean he won't walk, but it's hard to take a self-defense claim seriously.
