Haha that is fair- really any veteran depth d-man willing to sign for cheap would do.

I like the idea of adding Carson Soucy as a depth Dman. Big, strong physical Dman, Alberta boy and could probably be had for close to league minimum.

I didn't even realize he was a UFA. That would be a great pick up actually. He's very solid on the bottom pairing.

Yeah I brought up Soucy before as he's a UFA due to a bit of a loophole.
Saw Minnesota reporters kind of upset about the risk of losing him. Also saw the suggestion that he has awful advanced stats? I'm not sure but sounds like there's a lot to like.

Among regular Wild d-men this year, Soucy ranked:
- last in Rel CF% (-4.24)
- last in Rel FF% (-3.41)
- last in Rel SF% (-3.48)
- last in Rel SCF% (-3.37)
- 2nd last in Rel HDCF% (-2.29)
- 2nd last in Rel xGF% (-2.70)
He did provide some legitimate value on the PK, but still ranked 5th among Wild D-men in PK time. Plus you don't want to waste a roster spot on a guy who only provides some value on the PK but is a complete trainwreck 5v5

Not a fan of Risto really, but he's big, can skate, logs minutes, and produces offense. He and Ghost might turn our end into a tire fire, but they'd put up points lol

Derek Ryan to LA for a 4th and a 5th (could be any team)
Rittich to Minny for a 2nd and 3rd (again, could be any team in need of a goalie)
Georgiev to Calgary for a 2nd and 3rd and sign for 2 years x 2.125
Sign Hall 7 years x 8.25
Sign Demelo 3 years x 1.9
Sign Logan Shaw 1 year x 0.75
Sign Sbisa 1 year x 0.7
Re-sign Gawdin 1 year x 0.7
Re-sign Kylington 2 years x 0.85
Re-sign Rieder 1 year x 0.7
Re-sign Mangiapane 3 years x 3.25

Hanifin - Andersson
Giordano - Demelo
Valimaki - Sbisa
Kylington - Yeselin

Gives the Flames two top tier scoring and a real solid third line as well. Ideally you would want a better d-man to pair with Valimaki- maybe there is somebody better out there you can find for cheap. To me Demelo is kind of like a Brodie lite. Bennett and Backlund can be swapped depending on who is going.
80.9 cap hit including buy outs.
|
Love those forward lines. Adding Hall would really changes the dynamic of our team. After a few days to let the dust settle, I'm thinking we give this group another go if we can add that superstar forward to take the pressure off Gaudreau and Monahan. Putting Backlund with Mangi and Dube is a great idea.
Defense maybe looks a bit weak, and I'd really like to see Gustaffson back, he made a huge impact on the PP. Question will really be seeing where Valimaki is at, he is the one guy that could either make that a solid defence or alternatively lacking some top end talent.

If the Flames are retooling and losing Brodie, I don't understand why anyone is in a rush to trade Hanifin.
Young, cost controlled, improving etc.
We all wish he showed a little more flare, especially after watching Heiskanen. If you trade a guy like that you're just going to spend a few years trying to replace him.
I know he was almost traded earlier, but this year is not next year.

LOL if we get 8th overall and use it to draft Lapierre it will be a total fail. Lapierre is likely to be there at 19. If we are trading up using Monahan, we best secure someone with much more likelihood of being a #1C, not a project with open injury questions!

I'm no expert, but we'll see if he is there at 19. By the sounds of it he'd be top 10 without question if he wasn't injured for a good portion of the year.

Yeah but his injuries are concussions and vertebrae. Big risk there. I wouldn't be shocked if he was gone before 19, seems like a decent risk once you get into the mid first round.

I think he goes in the 15-22 range. Funny enough in my aggregated list, that I used for the CPHL draft, he landed right at 19.
In our actual draft he went 15.
Bob also had him at 15.
So he very well may not be there at 19 for the Flames, but you wouldn't need to move up to top 10 to get him.

Time to blow up the core.
Trade:
Johnny 6,750,000 (for 2 more years)
Backlund 5,350,000 (for 4 more years....ugh)
Ryan 3,125,000 (for 1 more year)
Rittich 2,750,000
Janko RFA
This is a 17,975,000 savings and gets rid of 5 soft non-playoff performers.
BT has already squandered any value for Brodie and Hamonic so lets not bring them or Forbot and Gustaffson back.
Lines as follows:
Chucky Monahan Mangy
Dube Bennett Lindholm
?? ?? ??
Lucic Gadwin Reider
Robinson/Phillips
DEF
Gio ??
Hanifin Anderson
Vallamaki ??
Kylington
Goal
?? ??
Gives you lots of assets from the trades and frees up some cash to fill up some holes.

Because he is soft.....10 years of no playoff success.
You at CP seem to value him so much he should get you assets.
We need to change.

Not at all hard to play against, not a good face-off man, terrible till #19 came along, part of the core that needs to change
