Pretty impressive that the Canucks won the Stanley Cup in game 5 of the first round last night

Oh hush. The team is still likely going to lose this series. I am supremely happy with the growth and ability shown by a young team playing against the defending champions in what is the first taste of play-off hockey for much of this core. It bodes well for the team's future.

Not a single person is saying that they are cup contenders or are anything close to that right now. We have a lot of people saying that the Canucks are a fun team to watch with two young budding stars who are exciting players and beating expectations.

The Blues have been the better overall team, with better puck possession and better overall team skill. That said the Canucks have had better goaltending and that is why they are currently leading the series.

There's a lot to like about this Vancouver team but it still has its warts. They are getting excellent play out of their stars like Pettersson, Miller, Hughes and Markstrom while also having run off the mill guys step up like Motte, Horvat and Virtanen. Green has them playing hard and buying in. Wish I could say that about the Flames. Could you imagine Johnny taking an iota of the abuse Pettersson takes? Pretty sure he'd crumble and turn to dust.

I hope they win this series. They are actually fun to watch and play hard. But I think they'll blow their wad beating St Louis and will fade in the next round. Besides, nobody is beating Colorado.

Horvat is stepping up but make no mistake he is a star and elite two way player.

I will give you the top players but Virtanen and Motte have two points each in 9 games. Flames have certainly had non-star contributions at and well above that level.

Finally get rid of the Sedins after all those years and....*poof* there is Elias Petterson.

Like seriously.

Yeah, I meant to qualify that with opportune times or big moments. In general I've liked their games and their points have been pretty big and at important times. I didn't mean to imply that their total games have stepped up.

Flames problem isn't depth guys stepping up it's the fact that their the only ones standing there missing the top guys.

Pettersson plays two ways and makes everyone he plays with better. McDavid is a one-way player that racks up points for his line mates, but doesn't actually make them look any better.
Well that may be a bit far haha

But the fancy stats loved Petey this year, a lot had him top 3 for the hart, his defensive play is really underrated

The Canucks will probably close this series out because we can't have nice things.

Maybe in a couple days, it will be fun to cheer against them

Whoof, that's a missed call leading to a goal.

EDIT: nope, I'm wrong, he stepped on the puck.

Need a 4 goal lead, 3 goal leads are the worst.

The part that bugs me most about last night's game, I think, is that every time someone has a 3 goal lead in the future, we're going to hear "Don't choke it away like the Flames"
