Electoral reform how? Create a national body like Elections Canada? You'd have to amend the constitution.
The voting rights act of 1965 has already been amended numerous times, and could very well be amended again.
Automated voter registration, setting federal standards for the amount of polling stations per capita and the hours they're required to be open in federal elections, automated registration, giving convicts and Ex-convicts a vote like civilized countries... A lot could be done.
I guess that could be called more of a "voting reform" than "election reform".

The voting rights act is more about who can vote rather than how to vote. Giving convicts and ex-convicts the right to vote would be under this.
There just no federal mechanism on the how to vote. Everything is done at state level and they won't give that up and I'm not sure the federal government wants to take that on due to cost and managing 300 mill voters.

I can't say I always agreed with Obama, but even when I didn't, he was usually a joy to listen to. Not just because he is a gifted speaker, which of course he is, but because it sounds like he actually believes in what he is saying.
Maybe he is just a better liar than most politicians (coughJustincough), but whatever his flaws and mistakes, I believe he is a very good man who tried to what he thought best for his country.
I can't believe people are still buying Obama's schtick, The Hope and Change president that ultimately operated like a moderate, bootlicking Republican who prioritized big money interests over the American people's every time. Its time to accept he was just another puppet president in a long line of puppet presidents.
After more than three decades, Republicans are free of a federal court consent decree that sharply limited the Republican National Committee's ability to challenge voters' qualifications and target the kind of fraud President Donald Trump has alleged affected the 2016 presidential race.
Quote:
The decree, which dated to 1982, arose from a Democratic National Committee lawsuit charging the RNC with seeking to discourage African-Americans from voting through targeted mailings warning about penalties for violating election laws and by posting armed, off-duty law enforcement officers at the polls in minority neighborhoods.
This mandate was quietly ended in 2018.
I think this is important to highlight as I fully believe the RNC and the White House will use whatever practices needed to secure a win.
One thing to keep in mind is that WI, MI, and PA all have Democrat governors, and very liberal vote my mail policies. Most of the egregious voting suppression policies are in the deep red states, that really don't matter in a presidential election.
Florida is always a mess and Arizona has issues, but if they don't control the state level government in the states that matter, the Republicans are pretty limited in what they can do.
I check out /r/conservative occasionally and even they don’t like what Trump is doing to USPS, calling it unconstitutional. It could backfire on him because people in rural areas and in the military use mail in ballots to vote.

As do elderly people with serious health issues, especially during a global pandemic. That's essentially his base.

Just a reminder, the United States is a republic and this is one of those mechanisms that is a states rights issue. Yes, there should be some controls over voting practices, but it would likely require a constitutional amendment. Republicans ain't on board with that as it would ultimately end their grip on power.

It is unconstitutional and is clearly an attempt to suppress the vote, which is also unconstitutional. Trump doesn't care about the constitution or Americans, even those who were stupid enough to vote for him. He only cares about furthering his brand and enriching himself through access. He is also doing everything he can to keep out of prison at this point, and his best hope there is to remain in the office of the presidency so he can't be charged.
The worst thing about the attacks on the Post Office is that so many Americans rely on this service to get paid and to receive shipments including life saving medications. What he is doing is not only illegal, it is immoral. How anyone can still support anything this third rate grifter does is beyond imagination. It says a lot about the character and morals of the people who continue to support him. Deplorable is too weak a word.
Man, listening to Obama speak, I remember again what it's like to hear a real orator with intelligence, conviction, empathy, integrity, and vision.
That moldy pile of baboon crud currently occupying the White House can only dream of having those qualities. Hopefully he's out in November and America begins to repair itself in the quickest possible way.
Obama...old news, this is how you talk in America now.
Steve Bannon?
Who is that? I've never heard of him.
Said Donald Trump in the very near future.
Actually I hope Bannon doesn't goto jail for this. Those idiots who donated deserve to lose their money, and especially to a scumbag who is living the high life off them!
