I still think we can get Buffalo’s first for Johnny this year.

This is not new for Gaudreau as he has sucked for about 1.5 seasons which includes 2 playoff series. His value probably isn't super high but I bet he can land a 1st+Blue Chip Prospect.

Honestly, I would rather sell him now and have GMs think it was one bad season rather than watch him have another 60sh point season next year.

I wonder if Ottawa would take Monny and Jenny Hockey for Tkachuk's brother.

Agreed. I still think though that's fundamentally the point. Something is rotten or broken or whatever with this team. I think a major overhaul is needed to start competing in the playoffs, and I don't mean a re-tool.

It's something that's hard to reconcile in my head, As I mentioned earlier, I'm weary following the Oilers example of trading out big names for poor returns in somewhat of a mass exodus. I worry what we'd get in return for Gaudreau and Monahan.

But at the same time, I don't see us winning with this core, so why not start fresh?

Problem is, the players aren't those type of players. So in the great decision to change how this team plays has now basically resulted in exactly the same end.

That is not to defend the players but they are doing what they are told. I fear the time for this core will be considered over. But to me, it is a waste to not see what they can do with a real coach who can still have them defend but play to their strengths. Not trying to pound square pegs in round holes.
Right, coaching!!! We need an experienced coach or we are going to have the same problem season after season. Ward would have been a good chance if the window was not so short but we really should have gone with a better coach to get more out of the team and players. Can this coach get more out of new players next season, if he doesn't know how to make the right adjustments?

People that still can't see that are delusional homers.

In 9 playoff games they've scored a few empty netters and racked up some PP points but have put up a COMBINED 1 point at even strength (not including empty netters).

Simply BRUTAL.
Holy crap I hate it when people spew stupid nonsense like "homers".
Get over yourself.
We are fans here. Not homers. We can disagree without this junk.

After watching this series, a return that includes a primo pick or prospect seems like a pipe dream. That ship has sailed.

I think we'd be looking at something like Ristolainen, a top 10 protected 1st, and a B prospect we've never heard of.

Gaudreau is not good at play offs. But I more upset on Monahan. He does't have anything from 1st line C skills except little scoring. He can't win puck battle, can't depend, can't skate with puck, doesn't make his linemates better. Don't even get mad when lose the puck or scored in.

That's probably the move, but I still think it's possible for Gaudreau for put up PPG+ numbers, especially if he goes to a team where he's not expected to be the #1 guy.

Exactly. He's coming off a terrible year, and two straight first round of playoffs showing he can't be depended on to drive offense. He's only got a short term left.

The concept of getting multiple assets out of the sabres or Philly are pipedreams.

Yeah, hockey, serious business where we must always be in touch with reality.

Unchecked positivity? Nah, not in my entertainment thanks. I prefer constant doses of realism so people know I’m serious about being a hockey fan.

I actually disagree, and think we have high expectations of what GM's tolerence is when it comes to trades, than what actually the case.

Majority of NHL GM's aren't THAT bright, or rather, risk-adverse. They're always looking for big impact moves, and willing to sacrifice long term, for what they hope will be great short term gain.

Gaudreau stats over his career are very favourable, and he's only a season removed from his 99 point season. He's on the right side of 30 also. Although his contract is nearing it's end, we've even seen with rentals for big name players that they still can have a good haul bought in. Gaudreau has the playmaking appeal that there are definitely GM's around the league that feel his adition can work within their lineup, and set them over the top.

I think Gaudreau is a great complimentary player, if he's along with a player(s) that can make #### happen themselves. There would be a strong market for Johnny, and I think Treliving needs to take advantage of it this offseason, since the way the team is assembled currently, we've reached the ceiling with Johnny.

Flames will trade Johnny at the deadline next year, some team will overpay then. Flames are in for a strange off season. No direction right now, lots of big question marks everywhere.

Seriously

It's time for Peter Laviolette.

Not a Canucks assistant.
Not a Carolina castaway.
Not a Devils assistant.

Peter Laviolette.

Will heads roll though? I hope they do but very skeptical.

Same song and dance as last year, theyll say they thought they played well enough to win but didn't.

The next game is the real test of their mettle. Scratch, claw and dig themselves a W and push this series to a 7th game. Bow out in 6 and one will wonder why they even bothered to show up against WPG thusly ruining their chance at a higher draft pick that they so desperately need.

Losing this series would be so Flames of them to do. Squander a chokehold 3-1 Series lead instead let them into the series and let it slip.

Flip side of the coin. Win games 6 and 7 and a massive swell of confidence becomes part of the teams mentality.

Odds are they don't, but if it did, it would be awesome.

Tough to be a believer though when they don't give you much to go on.

Game 4 was an incredibly tough one to lose. Game 5 was destiny fulfilled at that point.

My eyes may be going and I might have missed a few goals but I think it was 2-1. Why is there talk questioning that Rittich should be playing? BSD at 1st line LW maybe, but we haven’t lost because of Talbot.

I think the last time I actually enjoyed watching this team was some of the Hudler seasons.

To add this was your gem of a post from the GT.

From what I can tell, two posters replied to you. So it seems like you are dramatically over-stating the reaction. From what I can tell your post was given the precise amount of attention it deserved - next to none.

Trade Monahan and Gaudreau for picks and prospects
Trade Giordano for picks and prospects
Trade Backlund for picks and prospects

Roll with Tkachuk, Dube, Mangiapane, Lindholm up front.

Suck really bad for 1 year. Get a Top 3 pick. Take advantage of teams with cap issues because it won't be going up.

Success!

or we end up with a bunch of Poirier and Klimchuk clones.
