I wonder if Darryl Sutter is still interested in coming back. I think changing up the core and bringing him in can maybe take this team to a new level.

As i said in the GT and got shat on from the homers on here, 13 and 23 aren't nearly good enough and this team ain't getting anywhere near a Cup with 23 as the #1C or 13 as the primary offensive threat.
People that still can't see that are delusional homers.
In 9 playoff games they've scored a few empty netters and racked up some PP points but have put up a COMBINED 1 point at even strength (not including empty netters).
Simply BRUTAL.

I think a huge issue with this team is that we don’t have a true elite top tier player. We have a bunch of really good pieces.
But we have no answers for guys like MacKinnon or Heiskanen. None.

Time for an ounce of motivational thought.
The Flames have been in this situation, down 3-2 in a series, nine times. (Nine times? Niiiiiiiiiine times.) They have never once come back to win from that deficit.
I think it's time for that to change.

If I had video footage and the skills to do it, I’d put together a compilation of gaudreau in deep in the offensive zone, puck along the boards, and the opposing team picking it up completely unopposed because he can’t take the body. Happens a few times a game and it’s just so frustrating to watch.
He is going to put up 80 points in a season again, no doubt about it. But the fact that it’s all he brings to the table just isn’t enough anymore.

Good coaches can get more out of nothing, and a lot more out of decent players. Team's not driving the play enough.

Well have to wait as 2020 just wasn't our year.

I only want him to play if he is fully cleared and feels good.

I think a lot of us know Dallas is a good team and even if we lose this series to them, that's OK really.
But what's not ok is the performance of our top players.
If this was the last game of our playoffs and we had just lost the series, I'd have a bunch of positives from our depth players, Talbot, much of our D but our top players have been embarrassingly useless...again.

I don't think the stoppage helped Gio, clearly a step behind. Very un-Gio-like.

Gio honestly owes his teammates an apology for how bad he’s been. Put the C on Tkachuk next year and move on from the deadweight.

I’m surprised at how down on Monahan people are. I think he’s far and away been the best player on that line. I think he’s being dragged down by Johnny and Lindholm (who is escaping much deserved criticism).

Flames leading by 1 in the third. Penalty parade to try and even up the game. Game Management makes the game more exciting, don't ya know?
Flames trailing by 1 in the third. Whistles in the pockets, this is playoff hockey at its best! May the hungriest team get the win, dig deep, play dirty, good ole fashion hockey!
The series isn't over yet, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes 7, even overtime in game 7.
If indeed it's over Thursday, at least I won't have to hear the wife complain about how much hockey is on. (Although I will miss the little guy getting excited, running to his room to get his Flames jersey, and running around the living room coffee table high fiving me as he passes every time the Flames score).

Lindholm actually looked better on the second line. If Tkachuk is expected to miss Game 6, I hope they keep Lindholm/Backlund together.

The frustrating thing is that we have the players who can win but Ward insists on giving Johnny big minutes.

Yeah, this is true.
I can visibly see Monahan at least trying to play differently. He still sucks at it, but he's trying.

Is there trains in the bubble? Time for a cooler full of beer and a train ride.
I’m mostly kidding but what the heck, maybe Ward should get together with the team, have some beers and strategize. Nothing to lose.

Yeah, it must be nice to win a ####ing draft lottery once in a while eh?
I wonder what that feels like.

It's funny the takes on this forums. Gaudreau is only good in the regular season, trade him. Sam Bennett is only good in the playoffs, trade him.
