I am not a huge fan of Treliving full disclosure.
That being said, if that is the case, how many chances can one guy get to figure out a goalie and coach. Its getting comical how little criticism he gets for it.

It’s been painfully obvious since last year. I’m glad more people are waking up to this!

Gaudreau has not had those same strong possession numbers this playoffs.

I didn't think he had a lot of help. I thought Lindholm was very disappointing. Monahan was okay.
Flames' problem, as it has been for most of the year, is team depth.
Tobi Rieder is a great fourth-liner... they're playing him in the top-six.
Derek Forbort is a bottom-pairing dman coming off a big injury... and he's being relied upon to play incredibly difficult minutes.
Rinaldo is a good regular-season deterrent... he shouldn't be playing a regular shift in the playoffs.
Alan Quine is an AHLer... he shouldn't be playing a regular shift in the playoffs.
I feel more hopeful than I did after last year's playoffs because next year, the Flames will have had one more year of development from Dube and Mangiapane. Tkachuk, Monahan, and Lindholm will still be around with another year of playoff experience under their belts. They'll have new pieces in the lineup after the summer shakeup.
And, hopefully, they'll have identified their serious depth issues and will have adjusted accordingly.

I think it comes down to depth. The Flames' bottom line and bottom pairing got absolutely demolished today

Our 4th line aren’t good. But they aren’t why we’re losing.
Our top line has been an embarrassment against Dallas and Colorado.
There are no more excuses for them. They don’t work and they won’t work.
Individually, they may have the reputation to get us good pieces for a rebuild.
Collectively, they’ll achieve what they have to date: nothing.

Sometimes you just need a victory to give you confidence and belief. Last year in the Raptors run, Fred Van Vleet was absolute crap in the first round but turned out to be crucial in the next series (especially the Finals).

Yeesh. Haven't been able to watch any games for lack of cell service, but dayem, the Flames look like they are getting destroyed!
So much for all my optimism, haha.

Unless Talbot is brought back (he has played well but I hope not) or Rittich is definitely the back up the next season. Otherwise, why not give the dude some playoff experience and see what he can do.
|
I’m guessing the coaching staff hasn’t liked what they’ve seen from Rittich and feel he’s too much of a wild card. Having said that, considering the way this team has played for most of this series it might be time to roll the dice and see if he can jolt the team back to life. It’s a gamble but considering how the team has played in front of Talbot I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rittich in game 6.
I hope I’m wrong but I highly doubt this team has what it takes to win the next two games against this Dallas team, regardless of who’s in net.

Be honest, if you were another team, would you give anything close to that after watching him in the playoffs?

Gaudreau needs to be shipped out of Calgary. His values are diminishing and if he stay here for two more years you can trade him for a bag of Covid testing swabs. He may be happier somewhere but I will be very happy if he is out of here. He has done more harm than good in this series.
By the way, he can bring Monny with him....

Managed to make it through the work day without hearing the score. Raced home all pumped to start pvr and watch the game......damn thing never recorded! All I saw was Lindholm shoot it at the defenders legs to end the game rather than just get it on net with 3 Flames standing in front.
From the sounds of it I just saved myself 2.5 hours tonight.

Trading Gaudreau right now is selling at a loss. Stop it.

Only thing we have going for us other than Talbot, is the fact Dallas #### the bed in this position last year.

Man, so sad that the series is over. I really enjoyed watching playoff hockey while it lasted. But I guess we'll have to wait until next year to... what's that? It's not over? They control their own destiny? Oh, great!

Fat lady is warming up her voice...
Flames played better today, but the better team won. Without Tkachuck in the lineup there has been no threat to roll waves of pressure and as a result no sustained pressure.

I look at the last couple playoffs and both teams - Dallas & Colorado - have this swagger that gets them moving, checking, skating, quick passes, shots etc.
I see glimpses of that with this team, but for the most part there's just no life and passion - there's a lack of team mentality with some of the players.

You have to move Gaudreau in the off-season. He won't re-sign in Calgary anyway. Even if he was a more consistent performer in the playoffs Tre would have to consider moving him.
Sign Hall, trade Johnny for futures. Simple as that, maybe explore trading Monahan and Gio as well while you're at it.
