He is the least charismatic player I can think of, he looks like he struggles to speak. There was no reason to make him a captain, they needed to bring in a solid 4th line veteran who will lead the charge and the talking. But they traded that guy to us.
McAvi makes Sean Monahan look like Jim Carrey in front of the microphone. Guy makes vanilla look spicy.

Like they were kinda sorta cup contenders during that 1 year window and made it to the second round. Mission accomplished in Edmonton right? The banner was made and is still in storage ready to go for classic Oiler night.
Since then the classic Oilers have been underperforming to what everyone expects. A Stanley cup. Nothing less for this elite squad.
That would leave a foul taste in McKinnon’s mouth too. Soo much expectation and several years into their obvious window they are still struggling.

From a Player's perspective I love the structure of the Matthews contract, he going to hold Toronto hostage with that whereas McDavid's contract basically makes him their prisoner.
It took an idiot GM to accept that deal though, to give a player that kind of money and not get 7-8 years is truly nuts, and if true that as a US citizen Matthews only has to pay 10% tax on his signing bonus money Dubas should be hung for treason considering about 93% of the contract is up front signing bonus money.
Imagine if the Oilers with their horrible defense and complete lack of heart, desire and give a crap made it into the playoffs and played a team far better then Chicago.
The Edmonton scoreboard would have had to add a third digit to track the Oilers opponents scoring.

with the vegas/chicago series i laughed when listening to the american feed of (i think) game 2 when they said something like "chicago is in tough this series becuz their opponents are a playoff team... and not the edmonton oilers!"

The "How painful it is" thread on OilHF(see link below) leaves me in shock and awe. It is the only place where I think we can find people who threw jerseys on the ice arguing with people who own Kevin Lowe jerseys. It is truly one of the few places on the internet that is a treasure.

Because all Oiler fans are stupid. Me included. All we do is run good players out of town after a 4 game stretch, one bad season, when they're too young playing in positions that don't suit them etc. Same will happen to Nurse, Klefbom etc and this thread will pop up again. It's embarrassing

Some of it was barely legible which I guess is to be expected.
The lack of self awareness is impressive. They are debating whether or not fans ran players out of town by quoting the exact reason why they ran them out of town!
The chuckle for me was the poster who gleefully stated that all the playoffs do is make the flames have a worse draft position. It’s as if the draft position is the win instead of what drafting order really is (a priority sequence to help weaker teams get better).
