Is Monahan playing tonight? He just can't handle or find a way to be effective in tight checking physical playoff hockey, and before anybody brings up Winnipeg, that was an ahl team, where he did most of his damage on the PP, 5 on 5 completely invisible.

Dallas like the Avs seemed to have figured out our best players and our system. We’re getting dumpstered.

The D need to start making better first passes so we can generate some speed through the neutral zone - really poor zone exits so far

also, we will get a couple PPs this period - need to capitalize

Yeah.

Honestly if I'm a ref with one freebie penalty in my pocket looking to sabotage the flow and outcome of the game as much as possible, that was the perfect time to use that call.

I don't blame you for feeling like it was intended. Timing of that was almost too perfect in the worst way.

Guy that blew the whistle has his greasy handprint all over this game.

Hopefully the Flames can pull a little extra magic to offset that blow.

I get fans are antsy about the game but holy the over-reaction here tonight is embarrassing.

How is it an overreaction when the team has done this time and time again?

The Flames need to learn to beat the aggressive forecheck that Dallas is throwing at them. Dallas is using that to stop the Flames building any plays from the D out, which is killing the Flames' offense.

Maybe they need a forward to drop back and support building the play out, or maybe they need something else that a good coach could come up with, but they need to overcome that forecheck.

Yeah it is a marathon not a sprint. Flames just need to keep playing their game. A few more periods of this and Klingberg will have PTSD going into the corner.

The Stars are arguably the most difficult team in the league to come back against so this will be huge for the Flames’ confidence if they win or get this to overtime. An early third goals will do wonders.
Well, arguing is what we are best at.

They also had arguably the best player in the game at the time. And the best goaltender this team is ever likely to see.

Well judging by the comments from some posters, the Flames might as well pack up the hotel tonight and head home to Calgary since the series is over.

I've seen him battle at least, he came back in the defensive zone hard and crushed a Star earlier causing a turnover.

Hard to be effective offensively as a centre when you have a blackhole on the wing that all the offense runs through.

I've been pretty disappointed by Tkachuk's lack of production as well, as he SHOULD be a player that raises his game come the playoffs.

Pretty frustrating that Benn can spear our top scorer in the junk with impunity, and then later draw a penalty for mere jostling that sets up the insurance marker.

With Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm & Giordano - Brodie all on the ice together during these playoffs, they have an xGF% of 31.21% in 16:49 spent together.

Without all of them on the ice, the Flames have an xGF% of 55.45% in 90:31.

Our top guys are trying to destroy us

That's also a pretty special and resilient group. I wouldn't say they are an example of your typical Cup finalist.

They also had a hall of fame winger and a future Vezina winner playing the best hockey of their lives.

Flames owed a powerplay after a very weak call on Gio. Certainly that was Benn beaking to the ref.
Capitalize on that like Dallas did and one #### from a tie. But it's been too long since a Flames loss so any sort of trouble and the knives come out...before the game is even over.
