It seems obvious to me that this will only provoke larger protests, with likely more video evidence of senseless violence against citizens.
I think one possible explanation is that they're trying to create a 'Told you so' moment, where some protester does something so stupid that it will actually begin turn the public against protesters. It certainly hasn't played out that way yet, but (ruling out any strategies that involve Trump backing down on protesters and BLM), he doesn't have a lot of options left to try to reverse public opinion on this.
I thought that masks were really only important in situations where you can't maintain a distance of 2 m from others though. Maybe I have been doing it wrong, but when I am walking somewhere or outdoors keeping my distance from others, I haven't been wearing one. When I go into stores or need to move into someone's personal space, then I for sure put it on. In general, I have just been giving people a wider berth.
It looks like some of the people being approached in that video were physically distancing.

Hey now don't lump Canada in with the utter #### show of US.
In terms of handling the coronavirus, it's like Canada >>>>>>>>>>>> US.
And there's no "working together" with Trump and his Republicans. That's a dream.
I am a Canadian and a Calgarian. What I am referring to is that everybody needs to work together and everybody needs to be on their A game. End of story. There have been a million mistakes across the board in Canada and around the world. America may be a cluster **** but let's not get our ego's out of control here in Canada. If there is one thing that this virus has taught us is that nobody has any idea who, how, when or how badly they will be hit.
By the time September rolls around we will be at 10k+ people dead and 130k cases and how many people with long term damage and health concerns?
Everybody needs a plan for everything and we all need to execute on that and all work together. A hate for Trump or a love affair with Trump or anything wont help us here in Canada one way or another. It won't help any other nation.
Sometimes I think people have taken this virus and pandemic and thrown all their own politics behind it when in reality that's not really the case. This isn't a political issues, morons across the globe have made it a political issue.
I was just highlighting that if you watch the news clip, what was actually said was different than what was on the headlines.
Trump or no Trump or whomever, we need the plan for everything going forward. Pro Trump stance or anti Trump stance really isn't going to be helping anybody in small town school board of any nation in the world make a better decision.

This is mostly true, but the video speaks more to the greater problem - the belief that masks will "kill you in your own carbon monoxide (wtf)", the belief that masks are a political statement, the belief that masks are being forced on people by the left. Needless to say, the people willing to get violent about masks are probably not wearing masks when they're in enclosed spaces and unable to physically distance.

Yes it's a slippery slope and it's not even about masks. There are people who believe it is the government's/the left's conspiracy for control. Masks, CCTV, apps, photo radar, seat belts, no Christmas, immigration, taxes, quotas, unions, pretty much anything.

Yeah, the government has already given each person a unique number, registers addresses, makes them pay taxes ... but never mind that ...
the mask! That is how they are taking control
Taking away their god given right to spit on each other

I think they all know they're wrong but won't admit it. That's the cause of like 90% of all fights. Being called out for being wrong makes people really upset but only when they know they're wrong. I mean I could be wrong right now but I freaking dare you to say anything about it. I swear I'm gonna f somebody up.

I wonder if 150 years ago people were complaining about their God given right to take a crap in a bucket and dump it on the street was being taken away by the Government and big plumbing?

The White House is blocking US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield and other officials from the agency from testifying before a House Education and Labor Committee hearing on reopening schools next week, just as the debate over sending children back to classrooms has flared up across the US.
White House officials informed the committee of its decision in an email, a staff member on the House panel told CNN.
"Dr. Redfield has testified on the Hill at least four times over the last three months. We need our doctors focused on the pandemic response," a White House official said, confirming the decision to block the CDC's participation in the hearing.
But a spokesman for the House Education and Labor Committee said the panel had requested testimony from any CDC official, not necessarily Redfield.
"We asked for anyone at CDC who could testify at the hearing. The invite was not for Dr. Redfield or no one," the official said.
House Education and Labor Chairman Bobby Scott said the testimony from CDC officials is critical to understanding how scientists would manage the reopening of US schools.
"It is alarming that the Trump administration is preventing the CDC from appearing before the Committee at a time when its expertise and guidance is so critical to the health and safety of students, parents, and educators," the Virginia Democrat said in a statement.
