He only has lackeys due to his position. The second he loses everyone will abandon him.

Thought this was interesting. Legaleagle is suing the gov't to get details on the redactions of Boltons book. I really like the channel.

Some pretty positive results for progressive Democrats last night in the the NY and KY primaries. Jamaal Bowman unseated the current, long-serving moderate rep in his district. AOC crushed her well-funded moderate opponent, as did Mondaire Jones.

In KY, Charles Booker looks to be on his way to a narrow-victory over establishment candidate Amy McGrath. Obviously it's going to be tough to beat Mitch McConnell but I'd certainly love to see it happen.

I would almost rather see McConnell lose than Trump. The turtle needs to go back into his shell.

Easily. Trump is ridiculous but in general he's rudderless. Barr and McConnell are way more dangerous.

Trump is likely going to lose badly, but McConnell losing is more important because he can operate at a different radar level and actually get horrible things implemented.

Except they're both really easily replaceable. If McConnell goes, there will be another like him to take his place. If you have a Democrat in the White House, McConnell is playing defense - trying to stop the President's agenda - rather than advancing his own.

Not impossible. There's a number of red seats up this time that based on polling are at risk.

Edit: Here's a segment that talks through it.

Seeing the lack of order in U.S. political forums lately makes me wonder when it doesn't turn into an all out fight like you see in places like Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, India, Greece, Turkey, Venezuela, Taiwan, etc...

I have to admit, I wouldn't mind seeing some of them end up like this:

Eh, McConnell despite being a scum#### human being is an elite political power player. I'm not sure Rand Paul for instance could step in and be anywhere near as effective.

That all sounds likely until your last statement about the military backing Trump. No way that happens.

well they can against other democrats, they then tend to get their arse handed to them by the Republican in the real election, it seems unlikely that a conservative state like Kentucky is going to go from voting for Mitch to picking a Black progressive arguing for UBI and healthcare, they might have gone for a decorated moderate ex marine

McConnel must be very happy this morning

Pretty unlikley. Basically, if they flip Arizona, and lose Alabama, as is expected will happen, they're at 47 seats. Then you have three "unknowns" - Colorado, Maine and North Carolina. Democrats need to win all 3 toss-ups to get to 50, and also need to defend Michigan, Minnesota and New Mexico. If they don't go 6 for 6, they'll need to somehow flip one or more of Kansas, Georgia or Iowa. And of course, they then need to take the White House to get the tiebreaker.

It's not impossible, but a lot has to fall their way.

I mentioned it before, but it is conceivable that it wouldn't get to the point that the military would have to decide on who the commander in chief is.

If Trump's side can create enough doubt in the results, it will be decided in court, just like in Florida. It's likely that the military would remain neutral until there is a verdict at least.

If it's a blowout loss for Trump, creating that doubt will be more difficult, but if it is a close election, I completely expect Trump to use every tool at his disposal to fight the results.

The U.S. could realistically end up with a presidential crisis similar to that of Venezuela if for example, other powerful countries choose a side and recognize opposing sides as the winner.
