Kentucky and NY had their primaries today. McGrath, the former marine and US jet fighter pilot is leading in a close fight against Booker (only 5,000 votes apart) who had a late surge in popularity of late. The winner will take on Mitch.

No contest in NY as AOC is running away with it at 75% of the votes so far.

A deputy to former special counsel Robert Mueller plans to tell a congressional panel Wednesday that the "highest levels" of the Justice Department politicized the sentencing of President Donald Trump's longtime friend and adviser Roger Stone by pressuring the acting US attorney for the District of Columbia to ease up on his sentencing, according to written testimony the committee released Tuesday.

"What I saw was the Department of Justice exerting significant pressure on the line prosecutors in the case to obscure the correct Sentencing Guidelines calculation to which Roger Stone was subject -- and to water down and in some cases outright distort the events that transpired in his trial and the criminal conduct that gave rise to his conviction," Zelinsky said in his written statement.

A retaliation ban probably comes pretty quickly. I don't imagine his supporters care much for international travel or learning about other cultures anyway.

Well, Floridians traveling to New York (among other places) will have to quarantine for 14 days. Applies to visitors from Texas and a couple of other states as well.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) cannot include Twitter in his lawsuit against two parody accounts and a Republican strategist he accuses of defaming him on the platform, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Twitter cannot be held legally liable for statements by the accounts and strategist Liz Mair, Judge John Marshall ruled, citing federal law.

The California Republican, Marshall wrote, "seeks to have the court treat Twitter as the publisher or speaker of the content provided by others based on its allowing or not allowing certain content to be on its internet platform," adding "the court refuses to do so," according to the Fresno Bee.

On the one hand holding social media platforms to the same rules as newspapers in terms of being liable for content would destroy them.

On the other hand calling twitter the equivalent of the town square and letting everyone wildly scream is not great for society.

The decision comes on a day when Florida set another single-day record for new coronavirus cases with 5,509, blowing past the previous record set Saturday by more than 1,400, as well as another 44 reported deaths. The total number of cases in Florida since the outbreak began rose to 109,014, with 3,281 deaths

Sounds like the state is doing to much testing. Slow it down and the numbers will go down dummy!

The Devin Nunes Cow is the 21st century version of a political cartoon in a newspaper, it's textbook satire. Don't know why this ruling would be controversial at all

I’d guess that a huge percentage of Trump supporters have never left the States and never will. Unfortunately for the others will be impacted by the Europe travel ban.

Would a ban also apply to Trump?

That's the whole discussion about Section 230 and Trump's EO after Twitter put a fact check on one of his tweets.. The law protects Twitter for being sued for something someone says through their service.

Trump supporters think this means that if they moderate the content or otherwise editorialize that somehow transforms them into a publisher and suddenly makes them responsible for the content others post. The law doesn't say that, but it whips the Trump voters into a frenzy against Big Tech and confirms their imagined anti-conservative bias the tech companies have.

So they want to get rid of Section 230, but of course this would actually make Twitter responsible for what gets posted by 3rd parties and instantly they'd have to ban Trump and probably most users. Or probably just shut down because it's literally impossible to read and moderate every tweet.

Anyway, the ruling makes sense in that Nunes can't sue Twitter, Twitter was just the billboard. Nunes can still sue the individual people making the posts (or try anyway), that's who should be sued if they did post something defamatory or otherwise illegal.

If a Cartoon is published in a newspaper you can sue the newspaper.
If the same cartoon is posted on Twitter you can’t sue twitter

This ruling held that you still can’t sue twitter. It was not about whether or not it is libel or not.

Yes, there is a long way to go, and yes, we will always hear about 2016 anytime polls don't show Trump close or winning. But Hillary isn't there this time, and Biden has consistently been hovering around 50% in all polls while Hillary rarely got there. I hope for America's sake that it is this much of a massacre, the GOP deserves it for abdicating their responsibility.
