I researched that when learning to do acid peels ( trichloroacetic acid) on my face lol.
I’m a Fitz II. It’s interesting. My friend Dean from Nigeria is pretty much a von Luschan 36. His wife is a Fitz II like me. I call them Othello and Desdemona. Their kids are gorgeous.
And yes, a lot of skin whitening products come out of Asia. Koreans are big on DIY skin whitening. A YouTubed I follow (NaturalKaos) gets lots of her products from Korea. They are obsessed with skin care, especially whitening.

At the risk of being insensitive... if you’re ranking your skin shade as a #1 on the von Luschan chart... you should seek medical assistance if you actually still have any pulse at all.

As a public defender, whenever I got a case that was just especially, stupidly made-up (think someone arrested for dealing drugs who was at home with no drugs, money, scales, paraphernalia, or baggies on them) the first thing I checked was the cop's schedule.
Inevitably--seriously, ask, like, any defense attorney about this--when you got a really stupid arrest, it would be within an hour or so of the end of the cop's scheduled shift.
Shift ends at 6pm? This really bad arrest would be at, like, 5:30.
Why? Well, because processing an arrest takes time, but it's also really easy. So you can make time-and-a-half for sitting in the precinct typing up some papers and waiting to talk to a DA.
This REALLY adds up.
Let's not forget that the end-of-shift arrest isn't just an inconvenience--arrests cost people jobs, homes, family unity, sometimes unraveling entire lives.
Some of these cops are making close to half a million dollars a year on the backs of the poor and innocent.
So when we look at police budgets that are bloated like this...it's not just military equipment and chemical weapons.
It's public officials lining their pockets with taxpayer money by doing terrible things to the people they're supposed to protect.
So when you hear "defund the police" and you get worried about a world where there's no one protecting the public, please remember that EVERY MODEL for doing this envisions a world where someone is on the other end of the phone when you call 911.

Do they source the line about cops making “close to half a million”? Having a tough time believing that.
Indeed.com lists the average police officer salary in the states as $74k after ten years of service. Provided a 40h work week, that’s $35.50 per hour.
Even if OT wages were double ($71 per hour), to make an additional $400k would require 5,600 hours of OT work. Or 108 hours of OT a week. Or 15 OT hours a day.

It says "some", you have to think that special units pay more too, as do higher ranks. So "some" making upwards of 500k isn't really surprising.

Does that salary include civil forfeiture gains?

The old guy who 'tripped and fell' in Buffalo has a fractured skull and can't walk according to his lawyer.

"I am not at liberty to elaborate at this time other than to confirm that his skull was fractured," Gugino's attorney Kelly Zarcone said. "While he is not able to walk yet, we were able to have a short conversation before he became too tired. He is appreciative of all of the concern about him but he is still focused on the issues rather than himself."

On a similar note, the NYPD walked back the Shake Shack poisoning claims, and there are some rumblings that two unions coordinated to make this into a media debacle

Twitter thread by Emmy-nominated screenwriter Krista Vernoff:
https://twitter.com/user/status/1272561179462754304
Quote:
When I was 15, I was chased through a mall by police who were yelling “Stop thief!” I had thousands of dollars of stolen merchandise on me. I was caught, booked, sentenced to 6 months of probation, required to see a parole officer weekly.
I was never even handcuffed.
THREAD:
When I was 18, I was pulled over for drunk driving. When the Police Officer asked me to blow into the breathalyzer, I pretended to have asthma and insisted I couldn’t blow hard enough to get a reading.
The officer laughed then asked my friends to blow and when one of them came up sober enough to drive, he let me move to the passenger seat of my car and go home with just a verbal warning.
When I was 19, I got angry at a girl for flirting with my sister’s boyfriend and drunkenly attacked her in the middle of a party. I swung a gallon jug of water, full force, at her head. The police were never called.
When I was twenty, with all of my strength, I punched a guy in the face -- while we were both standing two feet from a cop. The guy went to the ground and came up bloody and screaming that he wanted me arrested, that he was pressing charges.
The cop pulled me aside and said, “You don’t punch people in front of cops,” then laughed and said that if I ever joined the police force he’d like to have me as a partner. I was sent into my apartment and told to stay there.
Between the ages of 11 and 22, my friends and I were chased and/or admonished by police on several occasions for drinking or doing illegal drugs on private property or in public. I have no criminal record.
If I had been shot in the back by police after the shoplifting incident - in which I knowingly and willfully and soberly and in broad daylight RAN FROM THE COPS – would you say I deserved it?
I’m asking the white people reading this to think about the crimes you’ve committed. (Note: You don't call them crimes. You and your parents call them mistakes.) Think of all the mistakes you’ve made that you were allowed to survive.
Defunding the police is not about “living in a lawless society.” It’s about the fact that in this country, we’re not supposed to get shot by police for getting drunk.
The system that lets me live and murders Rayshard Brooks is a broken system that must change. Stop defending it. Demand the change. #BlackLivesMatter

The amount of times this has happened to me at McDonalds is enough that I was nodding along thinking "damn, I feel you, ####ing annoying, but where's the connection to the tweet?" and then when she went off about being too nervous to eat at McDonalds...
Lady, it's McDonalds. Getting your order wrong or having it bizarrely delayed for no understandable reason isn't because you're a cop, it's because you're a person and it's McDonalds.
Like, she's shocked by a loss of privilege so much that it scared the #### out of her. She went from having to actually change how she orders at McDonalds because SO MANY PEOPLE BUY HER FOOD FOR HER, to just... waiting... like everyone else... and she's not sure she can take it.
Hilarious Karen, hilarious.

Every story, article, or video I see from cops or cop sympathizers trying to show how hard things are for them makes me like them even less. What an over entitled group

It's sad and I think it's been mentioned before but the cops have come out of this looking worse. Someone gave them the green light to be awful and they took that ball and ran with it. So yeah, bring your lunch if you're a cop. It's not safe for you to eat out anymore. Oh well.

I liked the part where she said she ordered through her mobile device to prevent anyone from paying for her food.
What a hero!
