That's what happens when you're in The Cool Zone TM.

I don't think the magnitude of the protests reaches this level without Covid. No distractions that are normally in place like sports or movies or like icecube said jobs to get in the way. Its a perfect storm really.

In Minneapolis, no. Unfortunately, I think the intense response might have been needed to ensure the cop was rightfully charged with murder, and the by-stander cops fired (and hopefully charged). There's a serious feedback loop of ugliness in the US with regard to cops and how they engage in the community (especially with minorities).

In Canada? I think there are more effective ways than mass congregation during a pandemic to show support. If history has taught us anything, the kind of disgusting behaviour towards ethnic/racial/religious groups that we want to see (finally) stopped only gets worse in a economically precarious situation, like a pandemic, because fear and perceived self-interest take over.

With everything that's happening and clip after clip of the police acting like complete power-hungry thugs, the video of cops being put in their place with their tails between their legs after cuffing a black FBI agent is extremely satisfying to see.

Anarchists and antifa. They’re a cabal that’s controlling everything, they’re directing the riots (but you won’t hear the liberal media call it riots) with their far reaching network of organized anarchism. Open your third bro and see the truth.

I’m making a Thai green curry.

Thanks to Antifa, I’ve run out of onions to put in it.

According to this site: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article...trC5Ai762mRvCo

The black dude is unconfirmed to be FBI and the video was possibly posted a year ago.

Still pretty cool to see.

Yeah it's fakeish. He's not FBI and the video is at least 2 years old.

Treating your own citizens like enemy combatants is cool and good.

This has been mentioned previously (by me and others) but it's not so much what happens now that makes the difference, but what happens next. And that's not just on how elected officials respond, it's what we as individuals do next.

My experience doesn't give me a ton of confidence, but I do hope the 1500 in Calgary (including those here who have said they went) and many others across the world are already committed to seeing this through, and that they don't feel like they've accomplished anything yet or done their part. Protesting, marching, joining parades, and all that stuff is easy as allies, but the next part is the hard part and that's where a lot of people bail. Make sacrifices, financially support organisations that need help, lobby politicians, do the work. If you're thinking "maybe when I have more money" or "maybe when I have more time" then that's speaking from privilege, and it just doesn't help things that can't wait.

I know I've seen (here, elsewhere) a lot of outrage from some folks when Pride organisers don't welcome cops, or certain political parties, etc to march. This is the reason, because easy "activism" is nothing, saying "I support you" is nice, but it's just nice, and nice doesn't really help, especially when the daily actions don't match.

We need more people who do the work, and fewer people who just talk about how they recognise the importance of the work.

The real unemployment rate in the US is over 22.5%, and must be even higher among young people.

Easy to say living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

I'm on the side of the protests. I'm not a gun toting trumpkin. I haven't brought my guns to the range in years and yeah. If there is the possibility of a roving band of people wanting to break into homes to punish the "good hoods" then the door is locked for your protection and making sure that I can effectively protect my ####ing newborn an wife is important to me.

But keep sitting on your mantle in the great white north..

Picture of the day. Brave cop gets some from his colleague after pushing a kneeling female protestor to the ground. Just couldn't help himself.

Incident.

Antifa? An onion shortage is clearly due to every guy on CP citing all his onion chopping whenever a sad video pops up.

Wait... are these people.... Antifa?
