Extremely dangerous. Antifa is not exactly organized. So, how do they qualify people as antifa?

Two white women taga a store while a black woman tells her to stop. One of them also flips the bird while walking away. They're obviously not out there to support the cause but to start some ####.

Don't remind me.

Mass arrests and more police brutality to continue.

The good old Antifa boogeyman.

The looting and damage sucks. Still not the point though, people. How many of those here who are focused on the looting were supporters of BLM or Colin Kaepernick? Unfortunately there is little to no overlap, although there should be.

And you side stepped the question because it makes you feel uncomfortable to challenge your belief.

Someone made a comment earlier in the thread that I think many should rethink - its ok to be outraged by what happened to Floyd, and also be outraged by the riots. Both are senseless.
I can’t speak for afc, but I’ve made pretty clear that my opinions are my opinions, gained from who I know and what I’ve learned, and I’ve been happy to share and discuss that. If you think they’re cherry-picked, I don’t really know what to do with you, opinions are born from what you learn, that’s how these things work, and the idea that I, as a white person, had pre-formed opinions about just how hard it is to be black in America, and not opinions radically changed and formed by living there, forming real relationships, and trying my best to just listen and learn more because I genuinely loved the people around me (and that’s what you do when you care about your friends or if you’re just a good neighbour, you just talk to them and learn about them, is this different for you?), is funny. You don’t have to have an agenda to care about people different from yourself.

I don’t think you need to have lived in the US and actually have listened to what it’s like to be black in America first hand from those who have experienced it to have an opinion on this as a white person. That’s where mine comes from, doesn’t make it better or worse, it’s just my own, and I’m going to be as passionate about it as I feel like. But to dismiss it as cherry-picked to support pre-formed opinions? To that, I don’t know what to say. If actually listening to people’s experiences is “cherry picking information” when you’re later relaying those experiences, I’m not sure how stories are supposed to be shared and how we’re supposed to learn from each other.

As far as the riots go, I would just recommend people keep their outrage in perspective and consider the context. Nobody is outraged at just the murder of George Floyd on an individual level, that shows a complete misunderstanding of what’s going on here. Let’s open up the ears and listen and learn. It’s not “cherry picking” if you do, it’s actually how you understand the bigger issue.

There are business owners less upset about their business being destroyed than posters here. There are people will serious, life changing injuries less upset about what happened to them than posters here. These are the people in this, and they get it. If you’re more outraged by the riots than a business owner who lost his business to riots, ask yourself if you’re seeing the real issue.

The Chinese in Hong Kong have managed to protest for over a year every week. I wonder if Americans have the stomach for the same?

Here are a couple of examples of cops policing bad cops by getting them off the necks of people being arrested. Too bad it seems that it took yells from the crowd to make it happen though.

The Chinese have been quite lenient to the protestors in HK. They worry about public image domestically and internationally since there is still these 2 systems concept. They want to bring Hong Kong people to their side.

The US does not have these concerns, if the protests go on for days we'll see mass deaths. The United States does not mess around. As you said, can Americans stomach that?

It may be that they are trained in ways that encourage the opposite.

We are seeing it isn't all police and all departments, but the reactions like abusing media, pushing elderly to the ground, shooting bystanders with rubber bullets show that this isn't just a small issue, it seems to be part of the culture of some departments. And yes, it ultimately manifests in PoC bearing the brunt of it.

Yeah, no one is focused on it. They're pointing to it as yet another example to add to the bucket.

Setting buildings ablaze puts everyones lives in danger including those that have nothing to do with anything other than trying to serve their communities.

Violence accomplishes nothing other than further hurting the very people who these protests are supposed to be all about.

What a tone deaf comment.

They could have brought in the tanks and run the place over by now. Politics prevent China from burning HK to the ground and rebuilding it.
