In the Canucks model, if it’s needs based, that’s really hard to determine fairly. And if it’s to top up EI do they have to show what their EI is?
Pretty easy, imo. Just see what they've worked so far this season and extrapolate it the end of the season. We're so far into it now, the data so far would easily be considered accurate for the remaining weeks.

The Flames could even round down because they're the Flames and everyone would still be satisfied.

Exactly.

When someone calls a spade a spade, namely the Calgary Flames for being a cheap ass city wide empire in a pandemic situation, and said posters/people aren’t Flames apologists, then they aren’t welcome here. I hate this sort of BS. The Flames made their bed. They made a choice, and that choice was money.

Exactly the reason I’m not a Flames fan at this point anymore. I’ve had enough with the team, and their money hungry business model. It’s never been about the fans, or about the people. It’s always been about ####ing money.

This team has not been trending very well the last few years, and I’m not even talking about the on ice performance. For the apologists who will never receive the same die hard loyalty they keep giving this franchise, go on, keep defending this garbage business model. After all, it’s just business, and it’s still profitable... amirite?

My dear old grandfather once told me long ago that actions speak louder than words. The Flames seem to have an endless supply of words lately.

It is funny to hear all these posters say they are done with the team. You will be back here cheering for them as soon as they resume play. Guaranteed.

People will rush back because of their overwhelming success on the ice.

Thanks, but I value people over an innate sense of belonging to a sports club.

That value includes you, even with your baseless ‘Guarantee’

I mean, maybe? It's very tough to stop watching something you're incredibly tied to but I didn't expect a cheering section for my succumbing to my weakness to the team.

I watched a bit of a Shelby doc the other day and oddly came away feeling icky about idolizing the guy and his cars. We romanticize the shady deals and celebrate the brazen businessman's end-result - but I wasn't in-love with how he flirted with honesty and took people for granted along the way (in my brief viewing that is). Not that I'm buying Shelbys, but more to illustrate that I -personally- have started to care more about the business than the product lately it seems.

The Calgary Flames ownership thinks about their bottom line before anything else, and that was demonstrated to extend into times like these. That's a tough business decision to get behind going forward to watch my favourite hockey team. I don't expect this to be an easy decision, as it will be costly, but I don't feel that the Flames were changing their mind if it wasn't for public pressure. The wealthy clutching to their pursestrings for fear that they'll be less profitable than they hoped for in 2020 is the kind of first-reaction I want to be strong enough to not support in the future. They have a responsibility to everyone that has put their time and effort towards their profitable business - and they needed to be forcefully reminded of that.

They have nothing but time to change people's minds. But, to me, the Flames are in the column of 'evil selfish organizations' and I'd like to not support companies like that. They started moving into that column for me with the arena discussions, and I'm not even a tax-payer affected. But those discussions felt gross, it felt dishonest and it didn't seem that fair and forward. Now, at a time where the passion and fun of hockey isn't there to distract me from the business side of things, this couldn't have been a worse move for the Flames. To be honest, I want decisions like this to hurt them enough that they learn or move on.

Ideally, I cheer for my favourite team with my favourite fans on my favourite site while an ethical owner makes millions off of our passion. Right now, I feel like an uneducated dolt that feeds money into a selfish evil organization because I like hockey. When the world feels bigger than hockey, this doesn't look like a company that I want to be supporting right now. I hope that changes before puck drop, as I really like (good) hockey.

Shelby was an interesting story, much of it not touched on the movie as it was about a different story.

Married seven times and in the midst of a divorce when he died.

I can cheer for the players while simultaneously wanting nothing more than to punch Murray Edwards in the face, right?

You can. Why punish yourself because the owners are dicks?

Do you punch him the face before or after you drop 10k in his pocket for seasons tickets?

I think in the end the right things generally happen. I think people need to take a bit of a step back as this isn't exactly a normal business environment. The are a lot of things up in the air. For example for the Flames, some of the employees I heard work at the BMO center, are they CSEC employees or stampede? At the end of the day it probably doesn't matter as the people are being taken care of.

You keep posting this. Surely you have the capacity to understand that posting on a forum isn't supporting the Flames right?

This thread no longer has anything to do with supporting the Flames part time workers...some people just looking for a pound of flesh.

Saying they ####ed up initially and made it right in end makes me an apologist so be it

Oh yes, I am fully aware that some posters are on here purely to stir the pot, drop fly by posts, and try to cause hard feelings and chaos in general. Nothing new there. If someone says they are done with the organization why would they be posting still in every thread on the FOI board? Doesn't sound done to me.
