Such clowns.
What? I am calling a spade a spade

Barca was never a Flames supporter. He is a hard core Canucks fan...He hadn't posted since the Canucks started losing.

He is here for one reason and it has nothing to do with the local workers

I personally believe it was due to PR but definitely dont need a Canuck fan coming on a Flames board to convince me of that.

Clearly you never learned from all the arena discussion that money not spent on the team literally disappears and is never spent anywhere else.

The about-face is a PR move and I'm disgusted by their first actions. I'm glad to hear that they're doing the minimum possible to help employees, but I am ashamed in cheering for this team none-the-less. As was mentioned earlier, the true character reveals itself when you think you won't get caught - and I think they thought this would slide.

Whenever hockey returns, it better be damn good or I'm out. To leave fans with this taste in their mouth while the return of hockey is TBD? This is the memory I will carry with me until you're back on the ice, Flames - and it's a very poor one. As it stands today, I'm ashamed to have cheered for this team - and it's going to be a long uphill battle to win be back. For what it's worth Flames, you may have lost a life-time fan. Disgusting.

I will be keeping tabs of all the companies whose billionaire owners thought more of keeping in the green during an outbreak than what they can do for the employees that make them wealthy. I will avoid working with any company that reveals it's ugly-side in this. The world is going to be a lot different in the coming months, and a lot of unethical scumbags are going to be exposed and publicized finally. Calgary Flames, you're first up in my life.

It's time to open your wallets and stop looking at your stocks. We're all ####ed. Help out.
This is kind of where I'm at too. It will take a long time for this organization to come back for me. I might just be done with it. Truly disgusting.

The thread is about Calgary Flames event staff and the fact we care about their livelihood

or so I thought

Boycotting the Flames hurts these people

At what point did you decide to become the fan police?

CP is one of the few message boards not over run by trolls...I am sensitive to keeping it that way so will call it out when I see it.

Post history is pretty transparent when it comes to a certain person that will for sure thank your post

A good chuck of your activity involves hunting down posts to prove they cheer for a certain team, or said a certain thing, or have an apparent agenda. I find it odd.

Barca, if you want to have a serious conversation what are your thoughts on the Canucks? They seemed to have changed their stance much sooner than the Flames however their statement is pretty vague

According to a statement from Trent Carroll, COO of #Canucks Sports & Entertainment, they're committing to a "program that will help any part-time employee who requires support...based on individual need" during the NHL hiatus due to #COVID19.

What does this mean?

Its all good to say the Canucks did the right thing sooner but what exactly are they doing?

Can you not see how feeble and irrelevant the ground you're tying to stand on is?

They will help out any part time employee who requires support based on his individual need.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

If your part time job is a secondary job and you make $60,000 per year at your day job, you aren't getting help.

What's not pretty obvious is 'how' though - and that does leave the message pretty vague overall. As everyone figures out how they're going to handle this going forward it's best to have this mindset going in... but it does leave the door open to contribute very little and bask in the glow of the helpful

Employees paid for time they expected to be working before the outbreak
- vs -
Employees reporting to the employer that they need assistance, and what exactly is determined to be a supported individual need

You give one example, but the bar could be a lot lower than that.
A lot better than opening with 'no' though!

I just checked my bank balance and around $1000 was missing. In the notes, it just read "Disappearing Flames money."

Well, I learned my lesson.

Also like I said before, since these guys are mostly part time, they’d not necessarily work every event or game. And the schedules wouldn’t have been made yet for the events. So how do you calculate what they would have worked. I guess you could prorate it from the season so far.

In the Canucks model, if it’s needs based, that’s really hard to determine fairly. And if it’s to top up EI do they have to show what their EI is?
