Just one of those things that happen.

Take the point and move on to the next game.
I’m sure the video coach checked the play right away and told Ward it was a bad gamble to challenge.

Ok this should work

What a unlucky sequence of events. If the first pass isn't blocked by the good stick by Brodie, a good chance the puck doesn't get to Granlund given the angle it was passed from, and, Lindholm had his stick tied up at that moment.

Brodie does block it with his stick, poking it away, the puck bounces off the boards, then off the refs skate blade which sets the puck right back on the Preds players stick instantly, and gives him now a better angle to see and make it through to Granlund, and Lindholm was at a worse angle to get Granlunds stick.

Gio only went behind the net after Brodie blocked the first shot.
Doesn't change that Rittich was slow in getting to that post.

You are being too kind. When the going gets tough he brings flowers to a gunfight. Lindholm wasn't great tonight but for me, he gets a pass for tonight. He's spent most of the year working his tail off covering for Monahan's lack of defensive IQ.

Backlund scored an amazing goal against Boston that was an 8th of an inch fr9m deflecting out into the benches.

Tkachuk scored on saros with .9 seconds left in overtime between the legs from 15 feet out.

Sometimes a little 26 millimeter piece of rubber ends up in a net.
Agreed for the most part, though hate to see a goal go in that a shooter tutor stops along the ice.

Uuugh. What a cruel sport indeed. It probably would've been just enough to end the game right there if the refs skate wasn't there to block it and allow Forsberg to get the puck back so fast.

The more I watch that play(tying goal), the more I think it was worth the risk of a challenge.

The guy gets pushed into rittich but he also gives him a little forearm shiver and rittich never really gets set afterwards to face the final shot. I think it’s 50-50 from a review.

But to me, 50:50 chance of winning in regulation and being four points up on Nashville is good enough odds. The challenge falls and they still have a chance to kill off a 4on3 PP.

Easy to say from my couch, but I can’t help shake that feeling after watching that forearm over and over.

The preds score and tie it, whatever, but then the Flames come out absolutely flat in OT. They’ve played some dud OTs in the past but that was an especially bad effort.

4 points on the weekend and all will be forgotten

We have been trending better lately which is a good sign.

On a side note, am i the only one that thinks Monahan should give his "A" to Rasmus.

Thought the team played a great game overall, definitely deserved better.

But to me, the difference between a great game that turns into a 5-2 win, and a great game that's tied 2-2 with a minute left, often comes down to the top guys. When your top guys aren't going, you almost never run away with the score and then you're a bad bounce away from an undeserved loss. Last year if we had a game like that, Johnny's walking away with 4 points and it's over by the second intermission.

Such drama. Every point is big- on the whole a great effort and that’s great to see. Love how they’re battling.

Need to learn from it and keep going forward.

Should’ve expected another ridiculous finish by these 2 teams. Absolute sorcery when these 2 teams go at it in Nashville. 3M line was awesome once again, top line was terrible, didn’t think this game was on Rittich or anyone person though. Just a weird and ridiculous game.

Not everyone goes to the OOT thread, so I’m posting this here. A good watch if you’re still worked up about the game:

If you believe in hockey gods, just know that Nashville was probably meant to win this game, just like Ryan was meant to get a hatty tonight. There is no other explanation...

Flames were excellent for a vast part of the game.
Deserved a better result.
Puck possession was as good as I’ve seen it all season.
Trending in the right direction, IMO.

I think it was in part due to the combinations.

I'd have gone to some combo of Backlund and Gaudreau.

Lindholm and Tkachuk were having rough games on the defensive side. You've got to immediately go to your two most dominant possession players. With maybe giordano as the third.

Ward didn't neuter them but he didn't help their chances and he easily could've.

Very cool. So many great individual stories in the NHL this week. Ayres, Bobby Ryan, Ovi getting 700...

That last sequence was just unlucky. If the ref is a foot farther from the play it doesn't bounce right back to Forsberg and Brodie probably has a better angle to get the puck. Between that bounce and the pinball off both skates of the Flames dman and then onto Granlund's stick in OT, the hockey gods are cruel. I guess we are now even after we stormed back down 4 on Nashville last time we were there.
