So happy that we didn’t pay that price for Toffoli, this draft is too good to be wasting away picks for 25 games of Toffoli

If the Canucks re-sign Tofolli I doubt they keep Markstrom. Which would be a massive mistake

Demko's gonna be Vancouver's starter at some point. Markstrom, IMO, will be a valuable backup to some contender next year.

Also worth remembering that Vancouver doesn't have its first rounder this year after Benning went all in with the Miller trade. His job security is on the line and they need to make the playoffs.

I actually have watched a couple Pioneers games, they do the odd free stream. Also seen Pettersen at two dev camps.
Haven't seen any Huskies games, but I have followed Madden's career reasonably closely. I had him in the CPHL for a while and I've read a few scouting reports.
Not an expert on either player by any means.

Their first is lottery protected...so if they miss it's next years first

We are talking about a team that is barely scraping into the playoffs here trading a second rounder and one of their better prospects.
It makes sense for teams like Tampa or Pittsburgh. Vancouver should be trying to have a bit of patience.
I'm okay with them handicapping their potential upside though. Carry on.
|
If Hog and Pod who are not sure things. Why are you so concerned about the Canucks giving up a Madden who is further down the list? I don't get your logic.
your tune would be different had the Oil had made this deal lets be honest. you'd be doing cartwheels cause the Oil would actually have a legit top 6 forward aside from Mclotto and Dry.
your GM would love to pull of a deal like this... but there's that whole waiving to go to Edmonton thing.
your whole post sounds so salty.

Fair enough. I know nothing of either beyond seeing Pettersen at camp.

If indeed it is a bigger fish - I just dearly hope it is with an eye to seasons beyond this one.
I'm increasingly believing it will be a quiet deadline.

For sure.
He will have knowledge we dont on timelines obviously , but I just cant believe he doesnt try and make a move with the way the division is shaking out.
If Gio and Hamonic are both out another 2 weeks, then yeah he really is handcuffed. Hamstrings heal though so i have to think Gio will be back sooner rather than later. Hamonic is harder to figure...havent heard exactly what it is but looked to me like an oblique and those can be tricky.
So assuming that scenario, I can certainly see him going a bit bigger than normal....but his assets are mostly current players so it may be difficult with so many cap strapped clubs.

Good point.
But Benning is desperate, so I can understand the move though it' s too early for them since they aren't a contender. Not even close.
It will hurt them in the long run.

Boeser out for at least three weeks. Ferland done for the year.

Glad they are shutting Ferland down.
The Boeser injury news is very specific - unusual for that level of detail to be released.

we have his good friend Pearson as well so that played a big part of this deal i think.
word here in Vancouver is JB will be looking to deal some contract out at the TD.
Stecher or Tanev might be gone by Monday, we have this guy named Rafferty whose ready to step in.
|
Tanev to Toronto maybe?
