Took almost 13 minutes to get the first shot in the 3rd when you're down a goal. WHAT IS THAT?! SHOOT THE PUCK! There is zero GAF factor from these guys. Either find a coach that can reign them in and get them on the same page or ship them out to a team with one for some assets. Enough is enough.

To be fair, Hartley also had them deeper in the playoffs than they have been since 04.

Is that a joke? Look at the team goal differential under Peter's vs ward and come talk about better defensively.

They should send a message and bench Monahan and Gaudreau next game. Handcuff them to each other.

Unfortunately I was at that game, Gaudreau has absolutely quit, and we have a coaching staff that has no idea what they are doing. Good times.

The only moves you should make to "salvage the season" should be made with a mind to salvage future seasons, also. Like acquiring a guy like Zucker or Athanasiou or some other RFA/locked-up guy.
Getting a guy like Kreider or Pageau? Awful. Very 2016 post-apex Minnesota Wild thing to do. This year isn't going to be saved by the cream of the middling rental crowd. The only guy I can see making any sense is Hoffman and even then he'd need to come extended.

Ward clearly believes the players aren’t trying hard enough (as per postgame).
That’s three coaches in three years who have made that claim on more than one occasion. That’s a good gut punch for fans.

Yeah Treliving said the right thing today. I’m paraphrasing but it was something like “the team shows you what you need to do at the deadline”.
Nothing about this team this season screams “deadline buyer”.
Inconsistent, top players not playing well, constant mental lapses, and just poor body language.
Brodie, Hamonic, Reider, Jankowski should all be moved out at the deadline.
Anybody with term left you re-assess at the draft.

Geoff Ward is bang on with his comments.
Desperation. Compete. Veterans on the team need to drive the team.
Something happened with this group around the All Star break last year and the team did a 180. Something is rotten and I have no idea what it is, or what happened.
If you're in a fight for a playoff spot and the vets refuse to put in the work required to lead the team into the playoffs then you have a major issue.

I had a chuckle at the despairing nature of several PGT titles that got sureLossed by zamler because he didn't.

What really bugged me is when they finally decided to shoot the puck, they can never hit the net!

- Hartley was a mixed bag. Knew how to get the most effort / attention to detail from the players, knew how to roll a blender, knew how to shorten icetime, but then implemented horrible stretch pass heavy systems and hated tightening up play away from the puck. He had to go because of his philosophy, not because the players didn't respond to him. The players actually played their asses off for him three years in a row before his firing, two of which were lottery years.
- Gulutzan was a bad coach because he had a long leash on players, he loved rolling four lines, he didn't emphasize a 5 man attack in the offensive zone, he took Bennett off the PP which resulted in a huge mental slump for the player, and he idiotically utilized Brodie. For all the hate his systems (mostly deservedly) got, he did know how to shut it down tactically and force a tight checking high pressure defensive game. He just failed at everything else. He deserved to go.
- Peters was an incredible coach when he got here. Kept the good aspects of GG's systems but tweaked things just enough. Knew how to roll a blender, mostly had his powerplay lines working, and wasn't afraid to bench veterans. But then when he figured it all out he went away from some of the things that were working - particularily his blender which we didn't really see after the 2019 ASG. Got thoroughly outcoached from a tactical perspective in the playoffs and that reduced his rapport with the players. Got removed for reasons unrelated to hockey but even if you want to focus on the hockey aspect of it, his fixed lines and poor playoffs were a black mark. At best he was a mediocre coach, and it's possible he wasn't a very likeable coach. You can be a hardass or have a short leash and still likeable - see Darryl Sutter or Joel Quennville. But you can also be a hardass and detestable a la Peters' own Sensei Babcock.
- Ward is Gulutzan without the Xs and Os knowledge. Yikes.
