Watching the news today, hearing about the Raisatl whining about the stick thing still is so annoying, that guy's such a baby.
I don't even think Raisatl is enough of a clown name for him.. how bout Cry-satl? Craisatl? It sounds better out loud than in print form, even rhymes. Dude's such a baby

Yes, there Is. Treliving hinted at a handshake agreement with Lucic for the expansion draft when the trade occurred.

Fundamentally I agree that the team is no better than middle of the pack (which in the NHL is about 20 teams), but the unique element this year is the fact that they are still in a legitimate position to get to the playoffs and actually win a round or 2 due to the bizarre Pacific Division. I think "playing out the string" is apt, but ironically that could lead to a playoff run. Hopefully management has the ability to see the bigger picture no matter what happens this year.

Looked like Lucic went out of his way to be nice to Nurse, it isn't supposed to work that way. Opponents on the ice are not friends any more. That made Lucic look really bad.

Many different ways to look at this...
Tkachuk has elevated his game even further since signing his deal.
He will likely be considered a bargain next year and beyond.
Treliving is one of the better GMs in the league with contracts... it is easy to point to a handful of bad ones but go to any fan base and they all have deals that didn't pan out.
Tkachuk held some power in this deal despite coming off the entry level. If you want him long term then the price is going way up + we are not starting the season with the same team that was a top team in the league due to cap issues.
The flames have a 3 year window with the core locked in. They can back the brinks truck up for Tkachuk in 3 years when he is the captain and Gio has retired. I don't think Gaudreau is a flame after this contract and pray that the flames get a healthy return for him. I have said for a while that he is too much of a 1 man show which is great some games and not in others. Monahan should be in the long term plan as he is underrated. He can drive a play with the right linemates but when with Gaudreau, you are forced to play Gaudreaus game. Lindholm is a great example of excelling off the Gaudreau line since Gaudreau has struggled.

Time to look beyond this season and think about replacing the "core" such as Gueadreu, Monahan, Harmonic, Brodie and the like. We are soft like hell up front, we are soft like crap in D. We are still in the playoff mix because of the two goaltenders bailing us out most of the season.
Total rebuild with some toughness please. Tre, are you there?

Lots can change in that time, happy to not be handicapped in that department.
But didn’t phaneuf not waive? I’m just more curious if it’s wishful thinking or been said

Remarkably the numbers don't suggest that the goalies are bailing the team out. I feel more confident in the goaltending, but they aren't getting anything more than average net minding.
I actually don't know how the Flames have the record they do. The goal differential and lack of regulation wins suggest they should have a worse recored
To me it seems like perhaps they've been quite lucky to be where they are.

I would say it's been "strongly suggested"
We won't know until we know.
But I don't think it is something to be worried about.

Kylington, 2 rough games=fire into the Sun!
Such a fickle fan base we are. Same with Hanifin. I still think Hanifin just needs a new D partner to replace Hamonic. Sami Vatanen is my choice. Or, put him with Andersson and put Vatanen with Kylington.
Kylington has been so so good for the last 20 games, he should be given a flyer on two horrid outings.
Gaudreau should be public enemy #1 above everyone else, by a significant margin. No one else should lynched more than him.
Last nights game was abhorrent for many reasons but for me it expose the real issue with this roster. Its incomplete and as a whole they dont have the next gear to ramp into. Colorado series exposed that. This roster can win battles but not the war.
And Treliving I'm sure is working his butt off trying get moves done but time isnt on his side anymore. Cant be dancing at the deadline. If he is going to do anything it has to be prior to the deadline IMO.
Also, I'm on the Laviolette bandwagon. Get him in there now. Today. Hes a top tactician in the league.

Jut my two cents. I didn't mind Rittich celebrating after the SO win.
But if you want to celebrate after they missed the net twice and then you follow it up with a turkey, well you need to be big enough as players and fans to expect them to rub some salt. OIlers didn't like how he celebrated? Well they sure responded.
It's a rivalry. We don't need their players to like us. We don't need Sportsnet to like us either. It's really about what happens on the ice.

Actually that is completely false.
Under Peters, the Flames' 5v5 save percentage was 90.98% despite an xGA/60 of 2.22 and SCA/60 of 25.99. That SV% was the 7th lowest in the NHL under Peters
Under Ward, the Flames' 5v5 save percentage is 93.15% despite an xGA/60 of 2.32 and SCA/60 of 28.69. That SV% is the 3rd best in the NHL under Ward despite worse defense.
Ward's record is SOLELY due to goaltending. His coaching is well below-average and questionable at best.

Rittich can't toss his stick in the air without a big controversy but the entire Canes team can do a song and dance after beating the Canucks in a shootout

Just about sums up the double standards going on in the media as it pertains to the Flames.
If a Flame pulls a yakupov it's probably discussed until the draft.
