But well done making sure your look at recent performance includes Neal's only decent game in the last 20.

Last 20 games, 10 points, including 4 in one game. Excluding that game he has 6 points in his last 19.

He is what he is.
Which is literally twice as many as Lucic in the same span.

there is no defending that deal any longer. There is no way that the Flames are better off with Lucic than Neal at this point when Lucic just finished proving the one thing he could have offered the team, he didn't.

His contract is worse even if a tad cheaper, he cant play any longer in any sort of role beyond being "a guy", he plays a position the club is already deep at, and he no longer will stick up for team mates in the games where he is needed the most.

Neal may only be a PP specialist now, but that is miles and miles more than Looch can offer.

Just a dreadful trade by BT. Hand cuffing the team for 4 more years. At least with Neal his buyout is becoming palatable if not being more tradeable after a 20 goal season. Holland took Treliving to the woodshed on this one.

This team has a huge pile of junk at the bottom end and Lucic is the biggest part of that pile.

Both are awful. Neal basically can't play 5 on 5 hockey.

One player is clearly worse than the other.

Clearly.

Damning with faint praise.

If that's what's happening then the president needs to step in and get rid of Treliving. But we all know incompetence sits in the president's office in Ken King.

come on, you are smarter than that

Neal barely played

Top players are nowhere near where they were last season and it has nothing to do with Neal.

Gaudreau was 4th in MVP voting last year, ahead of McDavid...where does he rank this year? top 100?

Actually, John Bean is President and CEO.
Ken King is Vice-Chair of CSEC.

Honestly, I don't understand how people can defend the Lucic trade considering the one thing he actually could contribute in doing, which is being physical, never happens. Buddy gets called up, and has down more than Lucic has all season long in just three games.

Neal was crap here, but the fact is he has been a scorer in his career, and he is scoring this season once again up in Edmonton. The potential for him to rebound on the goal sheet was always there.

Trading him for a player with no offense potential whatsoever, and frankly is a useless big AND slow body, is Treliving showing that he's not that special of a GM honestly. He's been around long enough now that the team should be further ahead in than it is since the rebuild phase is now over. Over his tenure, he's shown he's terrible in UFA signings, batting average in trades, pretty good at resigning players, but bad in hiring coaches, and has only made it past the first round once; which was a lightning in a bottle type of season.

The Lucic trade was horrible since day one, and there's really no valid excuse for it that justifies it. Flames would've been better off ethier keeping him around if they couldn't find a trade partner, or simply buy him out.

Lucic was eating popcorn on the Flames bench watching his skilled teammates do their impersonation of the player Milan Lucic used to be.

Attended a party last night and was annoyed that I couldn't watch the game. Thank goodness I couldn't, in hindsight.

The Neal/Lucic trade caught me off guard when it happened. I would have rather kept Neal personally in that deal, but at the end of the day opinions on whether sour dough or rye is better on a turd sandwich really matters not. Neither are desired.

For the 3rd time in their last six games (Montreal and Ottawa) the Flames with a complete no-show. I don't think it's time to panic and more time to accept that this is simply not a good team and it's time to look to next season while letting this current roster play out the string.

This can't be overstated; not to mention the inevitable delay of a new guy evaluating what we have before doing anything. I feel as good about BT as I would anyone else...the only common denominators of this team's suckage are KK and ownership.

Trivia question:
What do all of the current top teams/recent cup winners have in common?

Spoiler!

Why wouldn't he waive?

Also, does it even cost the Flames? likely not...seems most likely the Flames are losing a dman no matter what

this is and has always been the most overblown thing about Lucic

What 7 forwards are the Oilers gonna protect now that they are so lucky not to protect Lucic?

McDavid
Drai
?

I mentioned this in the other thread.

Add Tkachuk’s contract to the list of Treliving’s failures as GM.

Our captain in waiting isn’t even locked up as a Flame for the long term.
