Listening to the fan and forgot, yeah, the oilers somehow got 2 of 3 stars last night. Not that it matters.

It was the Oiler broadcast so I was well prepared for the bias. Thought it was amusing when they were debating our only powerplay in the the game when Smith shot the puck out when puck clearly outside the trapezoid there wasn't even a peep of where he played it.

No passengers that game and I thought everyone was engaged. I still think the Oilers were lucky to get a point. The Flames are really struggling to get that insurance goal when up by one. Ryan had a glorious opportunity, Buddy somehow didn't manage to get it and Gaudreau and Monahan on that odd man rush couldn't capitalize. At the end of the day walked out with 2 points and will finish January 7-2-1. The butthurt from their media and fans is just the cherry on top.

The offside before Gio's "slashing" penalty was never discussed at all. I think that's what Gio was hot about in the box. Gagner's launch into the boards was described as a great play by him. Khaira was praised for a crosscheck because it meant he was becoming an agitator.

Don't forget that they called the cross check of Tkachuk into the boards from behind as a solid physical play.

It’s not hard.
It's more expensive. I don't get why people are bothered by this. It was an Oilers broadcast because it was an Edmonton home game. What motivation does SN have to spend the extra money to have a mixed crew to appease the dozens of fans that get triggered by this?

It's a national game on all the networks. It will be unsurprising that SN will choose to treat it like a national broadcast, and use their national crew instead of the regional one. Again, not something about which to get bent out of joint.

Does anyone have video of Giordano's "knee" hit on McDavid? The picture doesn't really tell the story.

It's a shame people let what the broadcast crew say or think bother them so much. The game is on the ice.

I fully expect the DOPS to have a meeting with Gio. The media furor about Gio's butt check is beyond words!! He will get suspended for daring to touch McLoser.

I enjoyed the ATL a lot. Boy, those Oiler fans are vindictive, and negative. I also think the courageous effort by Conner to come back and finish the game will cement the Masterson Trophy for him.

The view from behind shows that he wasn’t knee on knee, at best this is interference and nothing more. It is bonkers to me that everyone sees that as a dirty play. He wanted to slow him down, and he did without the intent to injure. I love how they don’t see Kassian as intending to injure Chucky but this hockey play makes Gio a dirty POS. It doesn’t make sense and the damn panel agrees....I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Yeah, what the hell was that? Had Gagner connected on that it could have been really bad, and was a textbook example of the dangerous hits that the League has been vocal about eliminating. He LAUNCHED himself into the player; both feet well off the ice; elbow extended. That was easily one of the nastiest hit attempts I have seen in a couple years. Thank The Maker Gagner missed, as he is prone to do.

I think Gio's done in the NHL.

He'll probably be banned from sports in general.

Maybe even behind bars for life.

Would the death penalty apply here?

Can someone clip the part after the first eat-bread goal where the two Oilers fans are celebrating? That would make a great gif too.

Then they focused on the fake high stick embellishment/acting by klefbom five seconds earlier calling it a missed call and didn't even bat an eye at that. The blue and orange broadcast was operating on a whole other level last night.

Every time I'm more thankful to have pros like Ball and Hrudey.

That's one.

Everyone was focused on this game, understandably, but it was also game 1 of probably the most important stretch of the season. They play 10 straight games against western conference opponents, 9 of those against teams below them in the standings, with the tenth being against Vancouver, who they're chasing. Banking points against the California teams while holding off the Hawks and Preds will provide a lot more breathing room to ensure a postseason berth.

I'm personally hoping for 14 points out of those games. So two down, 12 to go.
