Or as Tkachuk put it post game - if you're gonna stand on the tracks, you're gonna get run over.

So do we sign Big Ern for a 1 game contract? Or....do we worry. I'm not saying I'm worried because I'm not.
I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if Matt says NOBODY fights my fights as this is just the way hes built.
I don't ever wanna see Lucic or Rinaldo put in a situation where they're answering a bounty and let's hope that no such stupidity is even discussed.
This is been so blown out of proportion. Were.tslking about Zack Fatatardian Kassian here....
Ooh MT broke a code. Wow.....but on to another question.
I'm still a little stunned by the lack of response here by Our guys on the ice.
Seriously . Everyone stood there. No one had Tkachuks back at all.....and no ones talking about it.

I think that's why you see a lot of ex players like Selanne defending Kassian on this issue.
that was not a normal hockey play, you don't leave your cover to take an unnecessary hit on an unsuspecting player and not expect a retaliation.

It wasn't a blindside.
I know you're a Canucks fan, therefore not very bright, but try a little.

So now you can’t hit a player who is “engaged” with a teammate? OK.

Marchand, Kadri, Wilson those guys all play a similar style of game as Tkachuk. Chippy stuff but great players. They also are willing to fight. He turtles way too often.

Kassian was carrying the puck around Giordano and the net. There's was no puck battle.
A blindside hit would be from behind, which none of these were. The second hit I'd even argue MT held up to ensure he only hit the shoulder. You're carrying the puck around the net, you should expect someone to hit you.
Players "leave their cover" all the time to make hits. It's only Kassians fault that he wasn't expecting a hit.

80% of the players in this league wouldn’t have been caught how Kassian did because they can stickhandle with their head up.
Of the other 20%, 99% of them would have learned after getting caught the first time.
Then there’s Kassian.

Jesus Christ what a god damned stupid opinion.
|
Agreed. How many times had Ovi had to fight after a hit? The issue is Tkachuk somehow slighted the old boys and their "code" because he's perceived to be an agitator and not a skilled player.
Draisatl slew footed Tkachuks last year and when Tkachuk challenged him to a fight he skated away. I assume the Oilers fans and media were sufficiently hard in Draisatl for this, right?
These media losers think Tkachuk is on the same level as Kassian, mostly because they drink the Oilers koolaid so hard.

laughable premise. Seriously.
Every big hit is a consequence of the hittee not expected the hitter to label them. Every. Single. One.
That was a clean hockey play - there is zero rules about player not being able to go out of their zone - just cause you don't like it doesn't make it illegal.
Selanne? LOL that guy doesn't know a check unless he's getting hit

I've been really shocked by all the reactions to the hits. I think there is a case to be made that they were not all good hits, yes. But the demonizing of Tkachuk's actions post hits is ridiculous. What kind of game or sport demands you literally fight your opponent if you've done something to piss them off? Are we seriously still condoning or rewarding players for losing emotional control?
Kassian's overreaction is on him. It's not on Tkachuk. The way the game is structured, Tkachuk's punishment is supposed to be determined by the referees and not by Kassian or any other player.
Hockey culture has a long way to go.

Tkachuk was testing the line with his hits. Kassian completely forgot about the line and went way over it. He deserves the suspension. Tkachuk deserves the win.
Next game, I would expect Lucic to be ready to take on Kassian. That's what he's there for. Tkachuk I expect to just keep on playing for another win, straddling the line as needed to be most effective.

Called the Oilers out for being terrible and wasting/hoarding 1st overall picks. After that all of a sudden sportsnet didn't want to renew her deal

The thing that I don't get is why the media is acting like it has to be one side or the other. Plenty of room for them to both be in the wrong yet everyone just takes a side

I mean Christ, this isn’t about Tkachuk being some kind of goon and going out of his way to pick on their supposed “tough guy”. If he was going to try and pick on someone you don’t go after tough guys, you go after the skill players.
This is about Kassian literally being the dumbest player on their team (or in the league for that matter) and Tkachuk being smart enough to exploit it.
It cost them the game, and they’re feeding right back into it the more they froth at the mouth.
It’s hilarious.

Later though, Lucic had a little whisper in Kassian's ear, and Kassian did nothing at all after. I think all the Flames on the ice at the time knew that Kassian had lost it, penalties were coming, and Chucky was just fine.
