My fairytale ending is Tkachuk runs him over (again), drops the mitts and kicks his ass.
Kassian takes a dumb retaliatory penalty later on in the game and Tkachuk scores the GWG.
A sea of lava flows out of Edmonton as their heads all collectively explode.

And Staples has gross emotional problems.

if Kassian was running around he would get an invitation from Lucic.
Kassian is too stupid to turn down a fight.
thats not the case here...
if a top line leading scorer didn't want to be ragdolled he shouldn't be antagonize a goon.

Nope. The 90s called they want their code back.

there is no defence for the 3rd hit, left his guy to go after Kassian in a vulnerable spot.

Lol so? He left his guy to hit Kassian? And?
If kassian knew how to hockey with his head up he could have fed the point man Tkachuk just left open.
That’s not MT’s problem.

Tkachuk has fought before, just not when it compromises his team's chances of winning. It has to be a fair trade off in skill at a time opportune to the Flames. I'm sure if the Flames have the game in hand, Tkachuk would be willing to fight a skilled player. But there are so few fair skill tradeoffs to fight with on that AHL team that it's not likely to happen. Tkachuk isn't going to play into anyone's hands. If you think that's going to happen, you haven't been paying attention.

I totally agree, it would just escalate and those guys would take their own runs. Rinaldo, anyway - Lucic is more likely to just get in a couple of fights, I think. But that's not much consolation if someone in the Flames' top 6 / top 4 ends up with a concussion or some other injury.

Must of his fights were in his first season no? He hasn't fought once in a calendar year.
And for people saying "Why does our all-star have to fight anyone?"
Him being an all-star is irrelevant. It's his style of play. No one expects a players like Monahan to ever have to drop his gloves. If he wants to stir things up that's great. Personally I love it and it makes hockey a lot more interesting. But occasionally he's got to answer the bell.

Marchand, Kadri, Wilson those guys all play a similar style of game as Tkachuk. Chippy stuff but great players. They also are willing to fight. He turtles way too often.
|
You might need to reevaluate your biases.
Tkachuk has fought Cramarossa, Wennberg, McNabb, kesler, Dotchkin, Dumba, and Orpik since 2016.
In the same timeline,
Marchand has fought three: Eller (lol 1 NHL fight), Z Smith, and Hronek (1 NHL fight).
Kadri has had the same number of fights.
Wilson has almost FORTY fights, and not in the same tier as the other three players.
Edit: He also dropped the gloves with Muzzin, but was trolled , didn't fight, and was thrown in the box for trying to "follow the code".

No. He. Doesn't.
Or what?
Is he going to get Bertuzzied? I read many 'people' calling for that today like it's a proportional response. Kind of sad really.

Kassian was in a puck battle with Giordano. No player is expecting to blindsided like that out of nowhere.
I think that's why you see a lot of ex players like Selanne defending Kassian on this issue.
that was not a normal hockey play, you don't leave your cover to take an unnecessary hit on an unsuspecting player and not expect a retaliation.

Colby Armstrong is either an idiot or realizes he was hired by Roger Sportsnet and is therefore just toeing the company line as most everyone employed by that stupid station are Oiler fanboys or girls. Probably the biggest reason Leah Hextall was let go a few years ago. Remember she disrespected the Oilers on air?

I keep hearing this and it’s ridiculous.
If Kassian can play with his head up he can make a pass to his dman because Tkachuk is out of position.
If he can’t stick handle with his head up he shouldn’t be in this league.

Oh for fuxk sakes.
Laying good hard clean hits is antagonizing and inviting a bull#### mugging? No wonder the game is as boring as ever, you have skilled physical guys being told they have to fight if they want to hit?
Jesus Christ what a god damned stupid opinion.

Unless someone wants to fight, they shouldn't throw a clean hit?

I've never seen such a fuss over body checks delivered to the puck carrier. If I'm not mistaken all the plays ended with Kassian out of the play and the Flames with possession of the puck.
Is this not hockey?
I mean, if Tkachuk wanted to hurt Kassian all he had to do is lift his elbow and Kassian would have been in real trouble.
Edmonton is really turning the pout up to 11.
