There's already a 2020 mock draft out there. Fourth rounder? Leo Lööf come on down!

Treliving said on 960 on Tuesday (?) that Valimaki was progressing but until he starts skating they won’t have a definitive timeline for his return. Said they will take their time to make sure he’s 100% and that he’s on schedule if not ahead of schedule.

Clearly bogus mock draft, they don't have us drafting 31st.

He's a right wing, but a left handed shot. We desperately need a right handed shot on this team.

He wouldn't be anywhere near my first choice, but there may not be a lot of better options. He has an expiring contract too, so it's worth it for a short run.

That's even IF he's on the trading block, and I don't see why he would be at the moment as long as the Panthers are in the playoff picture.

I find the Flames picking ahead of the Oilers offensive

I have always liked Michael Frolik. Good luck in Buffalo!

I liked Frolik but he wasn't happy here. Glad we managed to get something for him.

Fro maybe started to slow down a bit the last year or so, but he was still a very effective player, particularly at ES against other teams better players. At least when he was still utilized as such with Backlund and Tkachuk. Not sure he ever completely recovered from that high ankle sprain last year.

Who knows what happened but I will never understand the way Peters deployed him, though it was hard to argue with the results the team achieved.

Hope he does well in Buffalo and earns another NHL deal.

Surprisingly good return considering the cap trouble almost all teams are in.

Having cap space is huge. It has been the primary reason why nothing has happened as very few teams have cap space to add. I am hoping the Flames are able to get some rentals on the cheap if there are more rentals than teams with cap space.

I'm absolutely shocked that we didn't have to retain, or take salary back. Frolik is paid 2x what he is worth.

This was a great move by Treliving.

This is my sentiment exactly. He does have some left in the tank, but is a 3rd liner max on a good team and he isn't worth that price tag for what he brings now. He was great value for the first half of his contract but shedding him now without retaining salary is huge! Great job by Treliving.

So, moving forward we have a line up like this:

Tkackuk - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Gaudreau - Monahan - Backlund
Lucic - Ryan - Dube
Bennett - Jankowski - Reider

Scratched/Injured: Czarnik, Rinaldo

We badly need to get another top 6 winger, there is no doubt about that. Finding someone who will trade our bottom 6 players and maybe a defenseman will be a really tough thing to pull off I think. Here is believing in BT. Obviously without trading our first rounder for 2020 or 2021 will be the real task to get someone for that second line RW role for this team. I hope they aim at some younger, up and coming guys who need a change of scenery and not sell our future to fill that role before the trade deadline.

Make it so BT.

He's already said he's going to do something with the space.

But even if he didn't, but thought they had younger options that were just as good it's not a failure as he added a 4th round pick for an expiring contract in exchange for depth they may not need.

Plus opening options always has value. Even unused cap space doesn't mean that said space wasn't an opener for a discussion on a trade that almost happened, but never would have had a chance without the space opened.

I think that Rieder more or less took Frolik's spot. Although Rieder has less offensive output, they fill the same role on this roster. I will be the first to admit that I am not really a fan of Rieder, but I will eat some crow, he has been a good Flame. A part of the reason I never liked the Rieder signing, cap aside, is because he and Frolik together were redundant. A lot of that stems from the fact that I thought Frolik getting moved was unrealistic. Now, with the cap in mind, Rieder has been a good addition in creating some cap flexibility if nothing else.
