No. If the cap space isn't used then it's a poor move full stop. Frolik+Young Player is better then just young player and unused cap space.
I suppose the Flames get the actual real money... but I don't give a rat's ass about whether or not Murray Edwards saves some dough I want a better team.

So Frolik for the Montreal pick was just said on sportsnet? Not the San Jose pick?

Montreal had the SJ pick. They traded it to Buffalo, who traded it to us.

Montreal had acquired the pick from San Jose at the draft in exchange for Montreal's own 2019 4th
Then Montreal traded the pick to Buffalo today for Marco Scandella
Buffalo then traded the pick to Calgary for Frolik

Immediately? Weird take.

|
Exactly.
For quick math, they open up $4.3M now, but if they wait until the deadline, that $4.3M becomes roughly $6.5M as a salary they could pick up (from this move only, ignoring any other space).

All the best Frolik.
For the flames, Meh. One of 5 or 6 4th liners is out.
Also, ugh. The best of 5 or 6 4th liners is out.

I already said it earlier in the thread, but I would bet on Pageau.
Right shot forward - need it
Can play C or W - need it
Top six capable - need it
52%+ at face offs for 5 seasons - need it
The guy would be a great add as long as it's not a dumb overpay and as long as he can be extended for what again is not a dumb overpay. He's just 27 and would be prime age through this cores run.
Problem is, he's on pace for a career high (by a wide margin) 60 points so the overpay is probably a must for Ottawa.

Fixed. Absolutely refuse to use twitter. The rule is never read the comment section and it's just a platform that is one huge comment section with no real discussion that ever takes place .

I'd keep Brodie but hamonic and janko can go and be replaced from within. No loss there.

Frolik is one of the rare bigger UFA signings that, for the most part, actually lived up to their contract. He was an excellent middle six forward but it was definitely time to move on. Hope he has success in the Eastern conference next year.
