Work ethic and compete are paramount and usually decisive in who wins almost every single game.
If you’re not fully mentally and emotionally prepared to carry out the plan and play your role with full commitment , you are hurting the team before you step on the ice.
Fully prepared, you win more puck battles , compete harder to create a chance for or eliminate one against and have success. Not complicated.
Of course execution is also paramount, but also a result of preparation.
You haven’t got time to think, it’s act and react based on preparation and practice repetition.
More games (not all) are won in the first period, not the third. It’s very difficult to reset if you’re not properly prepared at the start.
