MacKinnon with the McDavid Hattrick tonight (Gosl, assist and -2)!

Congrats MacKinnon!

You better trademark that - it's going to show up on T-shirts and ball caps pretty soon.

Who thought giving young skilled players a chance to play might actually pay off in a good way?

Apparently Ward I guess.

All discussions of Dube shall henceforth begin and end with a mention of his glorious mustache.

Worth noting that the much-maligned Frolik had a great game.

Also, a really strong contribution from some of the Heat-developed players: Dube, Mangiapane, Kylington and Andersson.

Biggest win of the season so far!

Nice to finally see them get that Colorado monkey off their backs. This should do wonders for their confidence going forward.

It was also great how they didn't buckle under the pressure when the Avs tied it at 4. You can tell this team has really turned a corner in regards to their mental fortitude. They were excellent in the latter half of the 3rd to earn that first point, then completely controlled OT and looked like an elite team doing it. And all of this with Gaudreau being held off the scoresheet. That's called depth, ladies and gentlemen.

My hands and throat hurt after slapping/yelling after that win. Good game

What a fun one.
Not having Johnny on the top line has to be a factor as now teams can't just zero in. Gives the Flames an edge in match ups too. Makes it much harder for teams to come up with a game plan!

4 pts back of the no goods and we still play them 5 times. So we are technically in front!

When Bennett comes back, Janko can go on waivers

Perhaps the fifth or sixth game so far out of 28 that Janko's been kinda good this year and he was very good tonight. That was a great sequence from all 4th line members there. Janko with the shot block & interception and lob pass, Rieder with the wheels and great pass, and old Fro with the finish.

It's play like THAT that Janko will need to keep showing to ensure any future of sticking in the lineup for the rest of this year when Bennett & Czarnik get back.

Forget any excuses about mostly bad luck and/or teammates as to why Janko's been a huge nothing burger until now. That's a no good argument as it takes the onus off the player when he's sucking and it also cheapens him when he makes an actually good play. Those plays that Janko made were all skill and no luck.

Know what’s awesome.

We have Dube, and Mangiapane up here playing great hockey.

But we also have Gawdin and Phillips as PPG prospects in the AHL (Both too 10 in PPG for U23 players). And Pelletier, Zagorodniy, and Pettersen looking great post draft.

Hopefully we have a good natural depth of forwards coming up over the next couple seasons.

And with the Aliu ‘alibi’, the coaching change wasn’t pinned directly on poor play. The team got a shakeup without the tanking or the embarrassment. Looks to be working well so far
