This is a brief but good piece written by George Johnson about Ward.

This core seems to waste no time tuning out "hard ass" coaches, they also seem to tune out coaches who aren't very good.

So, it sounds simple, but is it possible for the Flames to hire a good coach who isn't a complete #######? Hmmmkaayy?

If they do and the team tunes him out as well, then it's time to rebuild the core again.

Other than Boudreau swearing up a storm in the road to the winter classic special, he seems like a genuinely great person, I would be blown away if anyone has anything against him.

Emotion but not ######baggery. This I can handle. N bombs or choke slamming players not so much.

Ehh I just re-read the article I was referencing and it stated 'rookie' as in first year with the team.

Guy Gaudreau should be the next coach of the Calgary Flames, sheerly because of the entertainment value involved.

You think Johnny is trying to do too much on his own now...

According to some tweets I cam across today, the Flames are one of four teams that haven’t had a coach last more than 400 regular season games. Columbus is one team but Torts should break 400 if he makes it to the end of the season. Florida and Vegas are the other.

Let's see Tre get behind the bench and hold these players accountable.

Sorry I didn’t read the whole thread so I’m not sure if anyone else mentioned Tim Hunter as a possibility. He was a long time NHL assistant, now a head coach with Moose Jaw, and he coached the World Junior team last year. He is also Flames alumni to boot. Long shot but worth mentioning. I think he is known as a ‘players coach’. I think it will be Ward, but Hunter should be considered.

Yup. Guys like Boudreau and Tortorella are remarkably cranky and foul mouthed, but they've always seemed like sincere and extremely caring coaches to me.

Welp - looks like D. Sutter is out having been accused of verbally abusing his players. Any nice-guy coaches out there? Ones that don't finish last that is.

Well Dan Carcillo calls Coach Q the best coach he's ever had and I think Quenville is the best coach in the league, so....
