-He says 100% of players hes talked to appreciated what he said about Babcock
-He was encouraged to stay on top the Babcock hate by other peoples stories about Babcock
-Feels validated by all of the other stories coming out (ie Marner)
-The Babcock coaching tree (Peters) takes on many of the same qualities that Babcock does. Says that makes him sick to his stomach
-Says up until last week being under Babcock as an assistant was a good thing, now it's now
-Says Babcock thing is different than Peters thing, doesnt want to blame Babcock for what Peters did as much as he'd like to
-He says hes now the biggest leafs fans in the world after the move

I was hoping he'd get more into his time with him as an assistant coach in Detroit.

They could be negotiating a settlement too. Pay him part what he's owed in exchange for no legal action. It's probably pretty tricky triggering an ethical clause for something that happened years before his employment here. I don't see any hurry to do it. He's effectively suspended as long as they are keeping him away from the team.

I mentioned it earlier, but Commodore does not have a lot of experience with Bill Peters from his Detroit days. He only played there 17 games spread over three months while Peters was in his first year NHL coaching gig as an assistant.

The response is what you'd expect whilst an investigation is on going. Things need to be done properly from a legal and HR perspective. I'd imagine just like players it would fall under gross misconduct provided that the everything was confirmed.

Exactly. They need to make sure they cover their asses. It seems like a straight forward thing - he should not be working for the Flames given what we know about his past. But the Flames need to make sure that he can't turn around and sue them.
I would bet they come to a financial agreement and Peters technically "resigns". They are probably negotiating, through lawyers, the terms of his resignation.

I agree, particularly with your last bit. Unfortunately verbal abuse, bullying and racism are notoriously hard to prosecute unless you have recorded audio or video evidence. Tre is required to be vague in order to give all parties the highest opportunity of their claims being proven by law... Otherwise it can result in trial by media and subsequent defimation of character counter claims ... Etc

This sure is an ugly one. Food for thought, if the investigation concludes that Peters said what Aliu says he did, does/should Peters get a chance to work things out with Aliu, man to man, before discipline is handed out? If Aliu was at all interested in doing so?
Seems to me the Flames are left holding the bag for Peters' past behaviour as his current employer, when the issue - at this point anyway - is an interpersonal one between he and Aliu.

We've got:
-Allegations and corroboration of racism that negatively affected a player's career
-Allegations of him kicking a player during a game
Just need the classic rape allegations and the trifecta will be complete.

Yes.... the post you quoted was responding to a specifically snipped sentence where the poster was hoping to hear more about Peters from Commodore.

Coaches get fired all the time. It's simple as they continue to get paid. And they could just go that route if they wanted - no need to negotiate in this case. As suggested, by someone, it's more likely they want to terminate his contract using the ethical clause. To avoid paying him and make an ultra strong statement. I would also bet, this is tricky as his unethical behaviour occurred long before signing the contract with the Flames and not during his tenure with the Flames.

Can confirm and will add close relationships spanning decades were ruined because of Francis' decision not to fire Peters. Obviously more to come later.

See, this is what gets me. There is a long history here of coverups and pushing things under the rug, but the GM of the Flames is going to be held responsible for all of this.
Heads need to roll. If Francis knew about it he needs to be gone as well.

Listening to Commie for the first time - what's not to like about this guy?
' Sure, I was a bit of a pylon' - HAHAHA!
He sounds very sincere and honest in this interview.

I reckon he is suspended indefinitely pending investigation ... Temp coach brought in until the end of the season.

I'm wondering how long they have been saying that.
Because if it has been like that for many years, wow. Means the NHLPA is actively covering up abuse.

Players would also have access to legal counsel to see if public allegations might come back on them in unforeseen ways. There may be ways to lodge a complaint that would not expose them to the chaos that a twitter bomb would lead to.
It is also a matter of concern for the relationship with the league. If players are throwing teams into this insanity with regularity it may lead to a damaged relationship that the NHLPA may not benefit from.
I don't understand why people assume that a directive to players to bring things to the PA first means they want to cover things up.
