If I were playing the victim I would be calling for firings for language disrespectful to Christians. I'm not. It's not about religion, it's about consistency. Peters apparently is losing his job here. I don't think Peters actually hates black people. I don't think most of the people using the name of Jesus as a cuss word actually hate Christ and Christians. If people lose their job for use of a disrespectful term once, ten years ago, it's hard to make the case to other groups who feel disrespected that other coaches shouldn't be fired for things they've said. We know how quickly the mob can turn on people and go way overboard in recent times. There can be other victims here too. Also, people who feel disrespected will tune the game out.Whatever we do, consistency is not unimportant.

From Peters dropping N-bombs all the way to the persecution of Christians.
CP has done it again!

Not necessarily. It's possible that these altercations occurred between periods, and not on the bench.

My Pakistani relatives in Karachi are catholic. My uncle has had his car set on fire 3 times this year because of it. I think people forget many Catholics are not white.
This adds nothing to the Peters conversation

So, who determines the degree of offensiveness in an offensive comment: You? the Offended? Conversation context? Tweeter mob? Courts?

It has now been corroborated by active Hurricane players through Frank Seravalli although they want to remain anonymous.

None of those accounts were contemporaneous to the life of Jesus, and are poor evidence. I think Textcritic would say there is other circumstantial evidence that is better, and leads some to conclude that the existence of a historical Jesus (although not certain) is very probable?

Let's move past the offensive words category and stick with racism. N word is both, but the racist aspect is the true topic.

The Christian persecution complex is completely ridiculous. Pretty much every Christian I know uses those terms all the time. The equivalency is frankly absurd and it demonstrates how petty and ideological you are.

A valid question, but look what the topic does to a small group of second hand observers. Bill Peters is employed in a highly public arena, and his actions, past and present, have an impact on his ability to lead, and the bottom line of his employer. This is why many coaches cloak themselves in vanilla. Fans may not like it, but its all about survival.
Just based upon this granular sampling, Bill Peters is going to have some time on his hands.

Yeah, this is right. The mythic Jesus is a very difficult idea to reconcile with cultural, historical evidence from Graeco-Roman Palestine. Almost certainly not the Christ-figure of the New Testament, but most plausibly an apocalyptic Jewish prophet who challenged both the Roman imperial authorities and Jewish religious institutions.
In any event, it is a red herring attempting to make this false equivalency between offending Christians by the usage of "Jesus Christ" as an expletive, and making frequent use of the word n*****. There is just no comparison.

I don't think you know how racism works. Using derogatory terms to denigrate and demoralize an already vulnerable popuation (visible minorities) is significantly different than taking the lord's name in vain which might upset a few people in the power structure that has led the oppression of minorities for millenia.
This is like the meme making fun of the TV show asking which is worse, the "n-word" or "cracker"....pretty clear it's the word you can't even say.

Stolen from John Mulaney. Except he said "midget". Albeit which is no longer a hockey age category.

I'm curious to know if Treliving was aware that the coach was such an ####### to players prior to hiring him now that we are hearing reports from active players in Carolina. Could look bad on Tre.
