This makes no sense. It has nothing to do with respect or disrespect of a religion. "God damn it" has never been used as a means to direct hate at, disparage, or insult Christians (or anyone else that has a god for that matter). Nor has "Calisse". Or "Christ".

I drop something on my toe and say "Jesus Christ", I'm not directing bigotry at anyone. I'm breaking a rule in a religion. Just like eating bacon. If I say "turn that N music off" I sure am.

PM me if you have a real problem with me, but that scenario was just riffing off one thrown out there already (which, btw was pretty damn close to what happened). I riffed off another out there specifically to avoid throwing out anymore speculation and give some example of why we could chill out for a sec.

Then you entered the discussion to challenge all of us having a discussion (or, 'mental gymnastics'), so I suggested you stop. Then someone else makes a suggestion of an allegation they still haven't followed up on... and you're all over the next guy for 'victim shaming'... so I suggested you stop.

So I'm going to do it again, stop. This is a discussion, and sometimes we look at the other side of the coin - which is recommended. Kicking the door in and drawing lines in the sand on where you think everyone stands is introducing an argument for no reason.

So just have a discussion with us, and chill out. The news sucks enough already, so do you mind allowing people somewhere to chat it out?

Yes, Christians clearly are and have been persecuted minorities in places like China, Syria, etc.

I utterly fail to see how that provides any meaningful context to present discussions about racism in hockey in North American, or discussions about taking the Christian God's name in vain in a hockey forum based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Why do some posters continue to post about something which is completely irrelevant to the discussion in this thread? It is either hopeless obtuseness or intentional distraction/deflection. Either way, it isn't helping the discussion here.

Are you serious? There isn't video or two living people who remember Napoleon, do you think he existed?

Aside from numerous written accounts from his followers (whose mere existence is pretty good evidence for his life having occured) there are also non-Christian historical texts that reference his life. I don't want to stray in Textcritics domain here, but Josephus is one example.
