All that said, that issue (which could be addressed by raising it with the forum moderators) has nothing whatsoever to do with the allegations against Bill Peters, which are of an entirely different nature, and are clearly much more serious (especially considering the historical context of North American civilization). At best, raising your concerns in this thread (instead of with moderators) is a distraction. At worst, it is an attempt to deflect discussion from the Bill Peters allegations.

Are you Jesus Christ? If not, then I suspect you would not have much of a case. As a former Christian my understanding was always that the use of expletives was offensive to God, and had little to do with me or my religion. Expletives are an entirely different form of language than pejoratives.

...and besides, the idea that using "Jesus Christ" as an expletive is in violation of the third commandment is a misinterpretation of the text in Exod 20.

Should the NHL be okay with the use of terms disrespectful to believers in Judaism? Should the NHL have any problem with a coach who threw around terms like "ragheads" or "Mussies" in the locker room?

I am sure you know the answer to these questions, but this is a false equivalency. One is slanderous language intended to offend and demean. The other is an emotive expression whose meaning is completely transformed by the context.

But pretending you are respectful to me and other Christians in the language you use would make no sense for you to claim. Let's be consistent at least. That's my point.

Don't want to over side track this thread but there is similarities to words that offend people.
For example the God Daxxxd game thread at the heritage classic was offensive to me and others. I agree it's not the same, but understand why people brought it up.

It looks like context into how long they were together, what he contributed in that time, and what he went on to do. Context.

The only one jumping here is you and everyone bending over backwards to come up with a plausible scenario where he used the word in question.
