DMX definitely has been criticized for the lyrics to some of his songs. For example, "X is Coming" includes some incredibly inappropriate lines about the rape of a fifteen year old girl. I mean, DMX is a pretty troubled person. He has struggled with addiction, been convicted of numerous criminal offences, and served significant sentences of custody.

What does any of this have to do with Bill Peters? Have no idea.

Those threads are mostly filled with posts about how much Jankowski sucks.

I retract my apologies comments.

He should be fired. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Last time I checked, Christians were not barred from working in or playing in the NHL.

I've never done any of that stuff. Neither has any other Christian I know. We would be violating the very name that we take on if we did.

If you don't have the same faith or beliefs that we do, or if you think we believe in a "made up ghost boi" or whatever... Up to you, that's not the point at all.

If they're saying they want to get rid of language that is disrespectful and demeaning to groups of people, to the point of firings, well, is it respectful towards people who take on the name of Christ to use the name of Christ as a cuss word? Is it honoring, or is it demeaning? I haven't called on anyone to lose their job over it.

Should the NHL be okay with the use of terms disrespectful to believers in Judaism? Should the NHL have any problem with a coach who threw around terms like "ragheads" or "Mussies" in the locker room?

No, I'm sure not applauding Peters if he said that term once ten years ago, but whatever we choose, let's be consistent.

This is a sad, but hopefully good day for hockey, where a culture shift may take place.

As a beliver and follower of Jesus, I have never felt so unwelcome in this place, where God and Christ are openly mocked.

trying to, in any way, equate taking the lords name in vain to telling a black person to turn that n*** music off and frame it in a "what will PC culture take away from us next" is frankly well deservedly being lampooned in the most outrageous capacity imaginable

As an atheist who was raised catholic, I respect your beliefs but I feel like others should be free to make jokes as long as they aren’t hateful.

Also, the other guy brought it up first and compared blasphemy to using the n word. I feel like the mockery was warranted.

At best it's not following a rule of a particular religion about taking the Lord's name in vain. Sorta like me eating bacon - against the rules of someone else's religion, but not offensive to Jews or Muslims in and of itself.

It's apples and orangutangs.

Well, they aren't calling you a "Chrissy", or whatever derogatory term is for a Christian (biblethumper?). They are putting an inflection on a word and using it to portray exasperation.

If you can't see the difference, or want to equate the two thing, I suggest you are figthing a losing battle here dude.

I think that you have misunderstood what is happening here. All people are welcome to gather here, and to hold their own beliefs. That said, all people are subject to public scrutiny of what they have said.

Now, pretending that Christians are victims in North America is silly, what is even more silly then that is pretending and taking the lords name in vain is comparable to the N-word.
