I don't doubt for a second that it happened, just as Aliu has described. But, if Peters denies, says he doesn't remember saying that (which is not unreasonable given the long elapsed time), but that he is deeply sorry IF he did, although he doesn't remember doing so....there's no place for that in the game....blah, blah, blah....then I think he may survive.
But if secondary accounts like the new McMorrow one, with specific allegations surface, he's done for. But right now, it's he said, he said, and without a record, and given the timeframe that has passed, Peters can fake deniability. Although again, I am positive it happened.
My prediction is a summary execution. Before the game in Buffalo tomorrow night.
I disagree,
He can't say "it's possible, but I don't remember and I'm sorry". That would imply he's racist. His only way out of this, is if it didn't happen.
Prediction: He's gone. It won't be announced as "for cause". It will be "best for all concerned if they part ways" or words to that effect. He will get paid something, but no one will know how much.

The quality of the player on the ice provides zero context to how someone is personally treated, or at least it should have no impact.
I think it impacts what he believes was the "terrible" treatment he received. Benched, told off (even in front of the team), dismissed, those could all have happened and would be within the bounds of acceptability. If Peters did something out of bounds, he should say what it was.

Sean McMorrow played for Peters in 2008-09 season in Rockford ...
Sean McMorrow @sheriffmcmorrow
If you think Mike Commodore had harsh words for Babcock you are in for a treat to hear what I would have to say about Bill Peters ... Worst human being to ever coach me ... treated me terrible on a AHL team (IceHogs) where I won a League Award for Community Service. #badguy
What does "treated me terrible" mean. This guy sends out this tweet over an hour ago with no other details since. Either come with a specific complaint of someone being a dbag, like Commodores story on Babs lying to his face about being willing to play him before he signed with Detroit, or don't say anything. Tossing out a vague statement of him being a big meanie means nothing, as it stands toss this guy in with all the other dudes out there who are convinced they would have played in the show if only their coach didn't hate them.
This kind of stuff NEEDS to be taken with a grain of salt...when you coach any high level sports for this long there are going to be players that don't like you no matter who you are.
Focus on the Aliu incident and did he or didn't he or if there are other similar incidents...not POTENTIALLY bitter ex players who were treated "terrible". Be a lengthy list for all NHL coaches I am thinking.
Abuse of employees is not acceptable, whether or not it is racist.

And so what if the list is long? It’s becoming clear that what is happening now is part of a systemic, cultural shift. If nearly every coach in the NHL is guilty of emotionally abusing his players, then they should all be reprimanded. The message here is that what was tolerated for decades is not okay, and the way to fix it is to cut it out.

Agree 100%. just because a boss is hard on you doesn't mean it is necessarily abuse of power.
What’s your point? Hearing it as a weekly occurrence happened to you? Okay... so.... that wasn't acceptable. So what sort of contribution to this discussion are you trying to make?
First off, I'm not defending what was allegedly said. Just wondering out loud.
If he is let go, that must be a pretty slippery slope. Its a sad state of affairs, that I would be hard pressed to think that Bill Peters is the only guy in the NHL who has ever uttered a racial slur. Players? Referess? Other coaches? Managers? If Peters is let go, and that precedent is set, yikes. Hell, I could even see it permeate into other leagues.

I asked if he called rap n**** music. Not a great thing for adult to say but it wasn't unheard of back then.
If he straight up called a black man a n**** in a condescending manor I am shocked he didn't get his ass kicked immediately and would have been fine with that response.
Neither is good, one is just multiple levels worse.
