It won’t, but if it did cost anyone anything punitive, it should be the Blackhawks that receive the punishment.

So it's clear you were super early on the "Peters is bad train" - to anyone taking notes, please take note.
But if you read everything people like me posted... you might get an impression of where I'm leaning. I just decided to offer a bit of reason for pause instead of bull-horning 12+ hours (or, as you put it... "immediately") later
|
This. I would add that the reason people are talking about context because Akim's tweet was unclear on that point - he could easily have said "Peters called me the Nword" of that was the case, but he didn't. He said "dropped the N bomb towards me". Which could be the same, but could be different.
Pretty much everyone has said, no matter the context, it's bad. But how bad depends on context. I have said, there's no good answer, just levels of badness.

Depending on what happens today and what new revelations might come out I expect that Peters won't be on the bench tomorrow in Buffalo. At the very least he should be suspended pending investigation.

I'm of the opinion even if there aren't more accusations of racism, but more players come out and say he was an abusive gaslighter ect, they should let him go. How does the NHL believably contribute to anti-bullying campaigns if the league employs a bunch of sociopaths masquerading as coaches and GMs.

He's just an advisor to them I thought, but given his tenure I'm sure they'd be amiable in allowing him to another organization to enter a full time head coaching role.
And he definitely would have been interested in coming back here.

Asked if he would consider the coaching opening with the Washington Capitals that became available when Barry Trotz resigned Monday, Sutter said, "No way. I'd be too far away from the grandkids."
[...]
Sutter, who was fired by the Kings on April 10, 2017, told Sportsnet he would have considered coaching the Flames, who had an opening before they hired Bill Peters on April 23 to replace Glen Gulutzan. Sutter has a farm in his native Viking, Alberta.
"I would have listened for sure," Sutter said. "Brad [Treliving, Flames general manager] made a great choice in Bill."

Yeah the Flames, KNEW that Peters dropped N bombs towards one of their own former players.
Lol.

Does the CBA govern how the league disciplines organizations? I don’t think it does in other sports.
Not that it really applies here and certainly not to the Flames. Unless they try to cover it up or something which I’m not concerned about.

Id be interested in Sutter, just to see how a Darryl Sutter team plays in 2019/20.
The game has changed quite a bit, even since his LA days. He showed he could adapt to the "new" NHL then, I wonder if he can do it now. Especially with a smallish team.

Never mind - he wasn't there at the same time. Missed by a year. He played 2 games with Akim in 2008. This happened in 09-10 if I read Aliu's stats right (that's when he spent time in the ECHL).
Guys that would know are Bickell, Klinkhammer, Crawford, Cullimore, etc.
You might get something out of one of them who is out of the league, like Bickell or Klinkhammer.

So if Peters faces any repercussions, should there also be any repercussions for Stan Bowman et al if the allegations are proven to be true?

Bill Peters, and only Bill Peters will face the consequences. The Flames will not and should not be punished for employing someone who may or may not have said horrible things in private 9-10 years ago. That is an absurd thought process.

That said, the only way for the Flames to get out from under this is to fire Peters and move on. Either that or the apology of the century, but the risk of this following the team around is too great imo.
