Gaudreau had 99 points last season...those guys don't grow on trees either
Heck Gaudreau has more points this season in the worst stretch of his career

Johnny doesn't deserve that.

Tkachuk might not ever score 80-100 points, whereas Gaudreau has done it the last 3 seasons (and has another 78 point season).
And we're adding?!?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
I get that Brady will probably be at least a 60 point guy, and brings some physicality, but if his name wasn't Tkachuk, no one would wanting to be trade Johnny and adding a 2nd.

Brady is trending much like Matthew did. Would you trade Matthew Tkachuk for Gaudreau?
Also Gaudreau is 2 years from UFA, while Brady is on his ELC and has a lot of team controlled years left.
Right now Gaudreau is better than Brady Tkachuk. Much better. But that's not the only consideration when making trades.

Gaudreau > Couturier, but yes - Couturier is very, very good.

Towes never scored anywhere close to 99 points, yet did just fine, and was considered an elite player.
It’s OK in the NHL if part of your skill set is stopping the other team from scoring.
Johnny has certainly outscored Couturier, but his defensive deficiencies makes him less valuable to a team.
Ideally, we could add Couturier without subtracting anyone, but last I looked, kidnapping is illegal.

I figured Gaudreau would be moved this summer regardless of the fate of the team. If a deal presents itself right now, that makes the team stronger, you take it. It doesn't matter when a deal presents itself, so long as it makes the team better you take it and move on.

Looking around the league I can't see any one for one trade involving a true #1 center that's available for Gaudreau.
It's an off-season move. And even then it's most likely a package coming back, maybe a 1b center and a A prospect + pick.

I think it's really interesting that most of the board sentiment at the time was 'don't trade bennett until he has a new coach' but there is basically 0 talk of firing Peters on the board when last year seems to be the anomaly in his coaching career and this year appears to be more on trend.
I absolutely would not trade Gaudreau before firing Peters and bringing in a new coach.

Those complaints are years old and long pre-date Edwards' move to London. Honestly, the last we heard of about meddling was implied when Treliving was negotiating his extension in 2017 and the rumours of Treliving insisting on greater authority/autonomy if he was to stay. Unsurprisingly, Brian Burke left a year later.
So the problem here is that you are now relying on years-old allegations to deny agency to Treliving for actions he made after he made it clear that he's in command of these decisions.
Your argument is lazy and convenient. Nothing more. If you want to argue that the Hamonic trade was poor use of assets, I can actually get on board with that. But the decision was Treliving's, and the blame lies at his feet.

If the Flames fire Peters, may as well just have Gaudreau and Monahan hand-pick the next coach.

If it means winning games, what do I care?
Is it that hard to believe a guy with no real coaching success is not having any coaching success ?

I don’t see this as a coach thing. Then again, I supported Gulutzan.
