What if you two started dating and she went for a drink with another guy just to see how she feels about your relationship? Would you be cool with that? I sure as heck wouldn't.

Everyone's different.........if you're cool with everything then go for it. Seriously.....life is too short.

I'm just saying if it was me and a girl was talking about going out for a drink even though she had a boyfriend I think I'd start wondering how she'd act if we ever started dating. Could you really trust her?

Wow, saved by another man. Who would have thought it? Right now she's bitching at him about something he didn't do, or he did do and screwed it up, and you're chilling out and relaxing with no stress. Lucky you! Sucks to be him!

Oh I know that..

But plenty of relationships end all the time, if someone considers going out with someone else there is two possibilities for what they're like

1. headcase, it'll happen again and again..
2. time to move on, and meeting someone you'd like to go out with makes this obvious.

I guess three would be I'm irresistable? yeah? right? no?.. didn't think so..

In my opinion it's either going to end, or not.. you won't know which, and one way sucks badly for one person at least regardless how it happens, neither of which you'll ever know before hand.

Me, I'd hate it if it happened to me, just like I'd hate to be dumped by some girl saying, I think I want to start dating other people, I don't like you anymore, I think your a loser, I'm gay, I don't want to marry you, I don't want to have your babies, I'm sick of you, you're annoying, this drug dealer is cooler then you, this renegade biker is cooler then you

I never regretted asking a girl out - even when shot down. Getting shot down gives some finality to the situation and allows you to move on. Not asking always makes you wonder what could've happened.

Well done Wookie! Now find the next one.

Ha-ha to bad Wookie…I said not to do it! But whatever these things happen to don’t let it slow you down

Oh as a side note Joe, I started reading that book “The Game” Flawless I can’t get enough info out of that thing

This reminds me one of our other Fellow posters (jroc) all day long he would talk about this girl in his English class last semester. How they got along great ya da ya da, than on the last day of classes he tucks his balls between his legs and screws up and doesn’t ask her out, when he knew that she was waiting, or at least he says

And so he see this girl again this semester and finally asks her and he gets the “Ok let me just say this right now, I have a boyfriend…don’t touch me” ok maybe she didn’t say the last part but she was probably thinking it, so don’t feel bad Wookie there is always someone feeling your pain

Or if you got shot down asking a girl to dance, just come back with...

"I don't think you heard me right, I said you look fat in those pants!"

And then walk away nursing your face from being slapped...

It sounds like this girl is in need of some serious wookie lovin'.

She is more into you than her boyfriend, and she's now thinking to herself... 'damn, I could have upgraded'. You just caught her off guard and she didn't know how to lie about the bf. If she had no interest she wouldn't have been so hesitant and wouldn't have suggested a drink.

Keep chatting with her when you go to the pool, you'll win her over. She's dying for some Chewie screwy.

hmmm... I was hitting on a lifeguard friday night myself actually... but at a party - much easier!

Well, great job getting the guts to go after her Wookie. I'd kinda leave it at that... if you can, try to keep talking to her without seeming like a wuss (and therefore getting trapped in the friend zone) you'll have a cool friend hot friend and for a minimal time investment she might be free down the line. Worth keeping up the chatter IMO, could be only a matter of weeks till she "casually" mentions she's single ...

BTW, Icarus - what are the ladies like in Sydney? I've loving Brisbane - I never thought my "Canadian accent" would come in so handy

Pretty awesome. I love summer here, I never want to leave the beach.

BTW, sorry I didn't get in touch with you before Christmas like I said I would. I was only in Brissy for an hour on Christmas Eve on my way down the coast so I didn't have much time to say hello.

Ha. Our webs of deceit?! We spin them pretty much the same way men do...

Anyways, based on what you have told us (and I am going to give this girl the benefit of the doubt and assume she isn't just a cheater), the guy she is currently with is just Mr. Right Now. She's with him because she doesn't want to be single and she had no better options. You came along and she was maybe caught off guard and accidently spit out that she had a boyfriend. Maybe that's reactionary from getting hit on at work, something I had warned of earlier. When she realized it was you, and you were serious and that she liked you, she tried to backtrack and say "we could go for drinks." If I am right though, you may see her single in the near future, now that she knows she has other options.

But what the heck do I know? It's early here, I barely slept last night and my feet are cold. Either way, sorry it didn't work out.

Yeah, something just doesn't add up here... Wookie, you mentioned earlier in the thread that you had talked to this girl before, on several occasions, sometimes for 10 or 20 minutes right? (There is NO WAY I am searching back through THIS crazy thread to find it). Well, I think we all know that it is standard operating procedure for any woman who has a boyfriend to find SOME way to work him into the conversation as early as possible, usually from 30 seconds, anywhere to 5 minutes.

So if this "boyfriend" never came up before... I call "BS". I say that there is no boyfriend.

I have cited the relevant sections of EG's post... If you are still interested, try again in a few days... just something simple like "so how about that drink?" That way you will be sure to find out about how they "just broke up" or some other such.

Sydney girls are awesome. When i was over there i became the subject of a bet between some local chicks. I didn't realize their aim was to get a cutting of my hair though. Your lucky with the whole Canadian accent thing, my "dirty pommie accent" doesn't go down so well.
