Alberta should tie Equalization transfer with new pipeline. Let's see who will change their tune.

The problem with constituencies in Canada is due to how electoral districts or constituencies are determined in the first place.
Take for instance PEI.
To determine electoral districts, the population of Canada is divided by 279, the number of seats in Parliament in 1985 when the formula was developed.
So Canada has about 35 million people. Dividing by 279, that comes out to about 125,000 people per electoral district.
That number is then used to determine electoral districts in each province. PEI has about 150,000 people so they should get 2 electoral districts...but they have 4.
Why you might ask? Because our constitution mandates that no province can have fewer electoral districts than senate seats. PEI was granted 4 senate seats so even though their population does not justify 4 electoral districts, they still get them because of how the senate is set up.

Alberta can't stop equalization without forming a tax collection agency internally and transfering funds to the feds.

If I was Kenney I keep hitting all the points about how the federal government needs to enforce federal jurisdiction on pipelines and stay out of provincial jurisdiction on resource projects, along with all the other points in how we r good citizens of the federation. It really all comes down to TMX. Albertans are angry and frustrated but meaningful construction work starting on the pipeline and surviving court challenges will go a long way to giving everyone some release. It’s also the best chance for us to get oil to the ocean ASAP along with all the benefits Canada gets. It’s the line in the sand. If it gets stalled for any reason, including court quashing, it’s time to initiate referendums on equalization and other measures. I tell Trudeau to pass TMX as being in the national advantage and to fight like hell on these next court cases because if it goes down it’ll be his fault for not showing up to court in the prelim hearing and not taking steps to insulate his investment from vexatious lawsuits. If he wants to risk it that’s his call but Albertans will justifiably blame him if this pipe is sidetracked. No more delays. If TMX gets cancelled...makes you wonder why we pay so much in to Canada for no benefits.

Yet the Conservatives seemed to completely ignore this with a weak policy in response. They even left the planting of trees open to the Liberals.
2. They spent far too much time trying to revive the SNC scandal.
3. They failed to control the "Ford factor" with his cuts to education and other things.
4. They should have known that health care was a concern in Ontario and the Maritimes and left that open to the Liberals.
5. They offered next to nothing to Seniors.
6.They should have shown support for the LGBT community by having a few high ranking Conservatives march in the Gay Parade.
7.It appears to me that the people running the campaign, and Scheer himself at times, seemed to lack experience.
I can just see JT's father, Pierre, up there saying, "The world in unfolding as it should".

I said it in the other thread, but there was absolutely nothing in the Conservative platform for young voters.

So we need to fix the Senate. Start all over, no partisan appointments, elected senators. And 150 k people shouldnt have 4 MPs and 4 Senators.
