BQ leader just said he's willing to work with Canadians on any issue (as long as Quebecers benefit), except if it means oil crossing into the province. A huge F U to Alberta, lol.
That's a nice suit he's wearing, too. Wonder if he knows how many petroleum products and processes went into making it? My guess is zero.

You don’t get it. The electoral college in the states is to prevent the major centers from dictating what happens in the entire country. Look at Canada, the major centers in Ontario are mostly red, and the rural areas in most of Canada are blue. The blue has the popular vote, but lose because the urban centers have a vast representation. If bc and Alberta where given proper representation that equals close to Quebec’s - based on population! - then the country would get better representation instead of so heavily slanted to the Toronto’s and Montreal’s. Popular vote is hardly ever a good metric to base it on. However in Canada’s case, because of biased representation towards the east, the west constantly feels left out because we are. Even if we get the popular vote, we don’t have the seats available to reflect it in parliament.

He'd find a way.
By the way if Gerald Butts finds his way back into the PMO office it will be the ultimate disgusting move and proof that Justin has no ethics whatsoever.

100%. Peter McKay really shot off their foot when he let the reform party take over. It was a knee jerk reaction to a bad stretch for a historic party that had been competitive forever. They need to move towards the centre and broadcast it.
A PC party with a good leader would have won a crushing majority this go round.
The whole unite the right movement has actually shrunk their total share of the vote down because even though they are a small part of the party when they give a loudspeaker to inarticulate loudmouths with fringe views a lot of ppl paint them all with that brush and has driven a lot of centre right voters out of the party.

Depends. Is this before, after or while referring to same sex marriage as a dogtail?
Hey, just an idea but hear this out, how about instead of getting homophobic candidates who may pander for votes, why not just get a non-homophobe? Let's get a Conservative leader who will show up to Pride parades, even if that means he might get booed at for a bit, because he or she actually supports the LGBT+ community instead of believing that they will burn in hell for all eternity and that their marriage is a sham.

Yeah I do get it. It should be based on population, but it's not properly based on population and as such we should have had a Triple E senate to help protect smaller provinces and prevent the two bigger provinces (Ontario and Quebec) from controlling everything. Instead we get nights like tonight where you have a section of Canada (the prairies) that will get next to no say over the next election term because the liberals will be pandering to Quebec and Ontario. The difference is the senate in the US is equal and elected and effective. Ours is a joke that is unelected and rubber stamps most everything.

I know that on a few select issues there is a pretty big divide between BC and Alberta but in terms of the overall big picture a Western Nation of BC, AB and SK would likely be more beneficial to all three as opposed to being in a union with Eastern Canada and ruled by Ottawa and Quebec.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan get more representation than Ontario and Quebec. To make Alberta and BC more represented than Quebec would be 3 seats total (2 in Alberta, 1 in BC) and only 1 seat total for Ontario (in Alberta, but then Ontario is underrepresented). Both would be erased by dragging Saskatchewan and Manitoba back to where their representation would be proportionate (6 seats total).
If you want to get mad at over-representation, it isn't in Toronto and Montreal, it's in the rural Maritimes, and rural Saskatchewan.

I'm kind of wondering, if the Libs work with the BQ, what that would do to them next election. Or if it'd do any damage at all.
