It actually is his fault.

It's hilarious.

The hype, and then the inevitable crushing disappointment, will be epic.

Neal had seven goals in the first seven games or something like that in the season in Vegas before the Flames signed him. He then promptly disappeared for most of the rest of the season. Streaky goal scoreres gonna get streaky.

No it's not his fault as he signed a deal to be a Flame for five years and it was the Flames that cut bait. He had a bad season, knew it and worked hard in the offseason to get better and so far so good.

San Gagner once scored eight points in one game. You’re not fooling me Neal...

It's actually remarkable he just never got on one of those streaks in Calgary. You figure things normalize over the course of a season - but it just never happened.
15 goals from a third round pick.

To be clear, I pretty much hated Neal by the end of last year, but I would have given him one more year before trading him to our biggest rival for Milan ####ing Lucic. Neal played a ton of hockey over the past few years, would have liked to see what he could do with a full off season to recover and train.

Yes it is his fault, including for reasons aside from his lack of scoring. That I am not at liberty to post here.

I’m so torn. Lots of goals from Neal or Zadorov getting clocked by Lucic?

I think I’ll take the latter.

Yea Lucic punching Zadorov really helped the team win that one.

I didn't know the latter is how the games are decided.

If Neal does end up getting lots of goals this season, it's a bad trade for the Flames no matter anyway you spin it. You can't replace those goals - that actually determines who wins a game or not - with physicality.

come on now...he is the same guy playing with McDavid

Kassian has what 3? A PTO almost out of the league had 20 with McDavid. Its not like he would have come back to the Flames and been a great player

Neal scored 7 last year and the Flames still finished 1st in the west, 2nd in the NHL and 2nd in the NHL in goals.

The Flames don't need him, they need to get tougher to play against Lucic adds that. Listen to what all his teammates are saying in the first week of the season. His very presence even on the bench deters the opposition.

So I wouldn't just look at it from a statistical point of view, hockey is a game of intangibles too.

Lets wait and see who wins more games this season

That's not the point.

The point is that you need goals to win games. Neal scoring goals for the Flames does more in winning the game than Lucic hitting guys.

Lucic isn't going to make the Flames win more games, whereas there's a case where Neal could for the Oilers if he actually scores this season.
