Aho with 5*8.5 sets the ceiling. He isn’t getting the same money with a walk right to UFA. Less money and more term is my guess

Yeah he's not in the same zone as Point or Marner in my opinion. And Aho is very comparable and should be the high bar for sure.
If you look at 5v5 primary point production the last two seasons, and then normalize the ice time, his closet recent RFA comparables are actually Nylander, Connor, and Boeser. He's not in Point, Marner, etc area code as a point producer at 5v5 yet.
Point: Goals/60-1.04, Primary Points/60-2.08
Marner: G/60-0.78, PP/60-2.03
Draisaitl: G/60-0.98, PP/60-1.94 (Context - signed to 8 year, $8.5M)
Stone: G/60-1.05, PP/60-1.93 (Context - signed 8 year , $9.5M UFA contract)
Aho: G/60-0.83, PP/60-1.71 (5 year, $8.5M offer sheet)
Karlsson: G/60-1.08, PP/60-1.61 (8 years, $5.9M)
Connor: G/60-0.97, PP/60-1.59
Boeser: G/60-1.1, PP/60-1.58
Nylander: G/60-0.59, PP/60-1.57 (6 years, $6.9M)
Tkachuk: G/60-0.9, PP/60-1.56
Laine: G/60-1.0, PP/60-1.48
Rantanen: G/60-0.65, PP/60-1.40
IMO a 6 year, $8M contract would be fair for player and team under the current RFA climate and that is what is listed as the most selected option on this thread poll too.
