I'd like to know exactly what the deal was with the Flames involving Zucker.
IIRC, it was reported that the deal fell through because the paperwork didn't get properly filed in time from Minny's side, and it was also said somewhere that Treliving was some kind of hot after it fell through. Must have been a fleecing in his mind.
Timing is pretty bad. I can't imagine too many teams will be letting the Wild interview anyone on their staff this late in the offseason. They are going to have to find a GM via the recycle bin.
I don't even understand what the lizard thing even means.
If ever there was a team to deserve Chiarelli, it's the Wild. I know there not really a rival and don't do anything 'bad'. But I just can't stand how they always seem to hang around, sometimes snag a playoff spot, then never advance. They were also one of the first teams to sign players to stupid 13 year contracts with Parise and Suter and really open the floodgates for those kind of deals.
What about the time they broke Johnny's hand? They deserve Chiarelli for that.

The full context of the quote isn't that bad, just weird. He was watching a nature documentary and saw how a lizard would shoot out its tongue and bring it back in with the bug it was searching for stuck on it.
He was saying Zuccarello when fighting for the puck would put his stick in and come out with the puck. More or less saying that despite his size he was strong at puck battles.

Yeah. It's kind of an odd way to describe a hockey player but I understand what he was getting at. I'm pretty sure he didn't get fired for this comment and more for being a really bad GM. I didn't think Fletcher was a good GM so it's time this club found a decent GM. Or maybe not as I just don't like this organization.
Would be very interesting to find out if there was a deal taken to ownership that caused him to be let go right now. It is a weird time in the off-season for this to happen.

He missed out on the Neal sweepstakes?

Lots of reports coming out that this was more an issue of Fenton's management style, rather than the trades specifically.
From what I read at the Athletic it seems like Fenton had not made many friends in the building. According to this article everyone from players to hockey ops were not happy with the way they were being treated. Leipold basically said the guy was a great scout but a lousy manager. Sometimes there's a reason some of these guys remain long time AGM's getting passed over year after year.
This team needs a full rebuild. They should be looking at Ron hextal. He drafted some good players when gm of flyers. He takes a slow aproach rather than trying to fast track a re-tool. I think Philly was stupid to fire him and the seeing what the new GM for philly did this summer is going to prove that.
