I am going to look at the positive here. Obviously Neal and Peters did not see eye to eye. Lucic has been terrible for the Oilers but most players suck when they are there. I mean how motivated will Lucic be to help stick it to the Grease? I am thinking a lot. The other thing besides policing Gaudreau is standing in front of the net on the PP. I never saw the day where I would be hoping for Lucic to rebound yet here we are.

The biggest negative to this trade is being unable to buy Lucic out. I was figuring there was a 80% chance the Flames would be buying out Neal next off-season.

Sorry but I'm done getting emotionally invested in this franchise when all they do is lose when the games really matter. If they can actually win a round in the playoffs next year I'll start paying attention again, but until that happens I don't see the point

From an advanced stat perspective Lucic has actually been much better than Neal over the last two seasons. Better from a raw number perspective, better from a relative to teammates perspective, and did it with tougher zone starts.

man, it's all BS. When's the last game you watched in the BOA where Lucic was an intimidation factor? A guy who was being a major problem/distraction in the post whistle scrums, etc, against a soft flames team?
Ya, me either. Lucic sucks.
This move does NOTHING about how the line combinations can improve, nor does it make this team even a grain better than the group that got their asses handed to them in the playoffs.
Adding a 6 million buck 4th line face puncher, ya, that's not how playoff team toughness gets solved.
I really hope Treliving wins a playoff round this season, otherwise, it's deals like these that make you scratch your head about some of his decision making and whether he's going to really be here for any kind of long term.
