Good trade but I was really hoping that Jesse would be part of this somehow.

thanks for the confirmation. Yup, dumb, dumb move.

Trading for a bad player/contract is one thing, but it helps a division rival makes this stupidity at another level. The other team being the oilers, takes it to another dimension.

Treliving sad that all his offseason plans falling thru, looks to have made a strange ass move here.

What a crappy way to go into a weekend.

Lol... remember that prepare to be surprised post you had earlier?

Neal got much worse as his assignment got worse.

This could still be the start of another deal. We know they've been talking.

Well considering he can't play at an NHL level, yes thats exactly what I think he would be thinking of.

I also think its pretty clear he would waive for Seattle. If he gets picked he's close to home but chances are he won't.

Dean Molberg @960boomer
Treliving has been mulling over this deal for more than a week. Seeds of the deal were planted earlier this year. Oilers keep some money and Lucic likely plays with Ryan and Bennett on 3rd line (Bennett to RW).

Puljujarvi needed to be part of this for me to be able to consider accepting or being ok with this.. tough trade to stomach right now but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

It's gonna be hilarious watching Neal and Smitty yell at each other as we blow the Oilers out next season

Lucic has been wanting out of Edmonton since last summer. Him and Sam Bennett on a line could be decent.

While totally possible, I actually wasn't as down on Neal as a lot people were. I though he would return to his average shooting % and score 15-20 goals next year.

The advanced and counting stats aren't actually that far apart for these two over the last two seasons.

If you look at the last two seasons at 5v5:

Counting Stats:

Neal:
GP: 134
G: 22
A: 20
P: 42
Shots: 264
Shooting Percentage: 8.33%
Hits: 88

Lucic:
GP: 161
G: 11
A: 28
P: 39
Shots: 185
Shooting Percentage: 5.95%
Hits: 492

That's actually way closer than I thought it would be. Neal the better goal scorer but not as good of a distributor, and doesn't play physical Anymore. Lucic's shot seems to have dissapeared but he can still hit.

Advanced Stats:

Neal:
CF%: 50.5%
CF%: -1.76%
HDCF%: 47.4%
GF%: 46.4%
xGF%: 48.1%
xGF% Rel: -4.69%
PDO: .992
Offensive Zone Start: 59.5%

Lucic
CF%: 50.9%
CF% Rel:2.09%
HDCF%: 50.8%
GF%: 47.1%
xGF%: 51.2%
XGF% Rel: 2.3%
PDO: .992
Offensive Zone Start: 49.8%

From an advanced stat perspective Lucic has actually been much better than Neal over the last two seasons. Better from a raw number perspective, better from a relative to teammates perspective, and did it with tougher zone starts.

Where is all of this "makes edmonton better" sentiment come from? We've all seen the oilers roster this season. There is no chance that Neal improves that, or even that an extra 4 mil in cap space if they buy out neal next year gets them enough of an improvement to even sniff us. Half their roster still doesn't belong in the NHL. It really doesn't matter...

Dud for dud. Looking forward to Tkachuk turning up the annoyance to 11, when Peters can roll out Lucic...

A lot of you are forgetting that the 2 most hated players on our team last year are now on the Oilers! The trifecta would be Brodie going there for Puljujarvi.
