I don't see why they wouldn't be able to make the trade conditional on Lucic waiving his NMC completely. But it would have to be his choice. He might do it just to get the hell out of Edmonton, if he knew it was his only means of doing so.

His RFA contracts buy a lot of grace. Also most of his trades are advantage Flames.
